I challenege the Civ 4 women of this world to a 1vW 1 being me and the W being all of the female players on this ladder. ;D This is serious offer, PM me when you have gathered your troops and we will discuss a time to host the game. If I fail in this challenege as the spokesmen for the men I will than consent to a standard teamer battle of the sexes. omg, you seem to have a too big ego - mrgamechauvinist, captain of the XXX section, rofl ;D ... crawl back to your adult video rental btw, iirc i killed you in CCC 1v1 last time we met (and if i remember right you just whined that i rushed you on the wrong side : ... looks like only 1 woman is needed to get you on your knees

well, don't sub into a game where these players are in next time ... or stop playing them at all, they will realize soon that not many players will be left to play against if they show bad sportsmanship.

since this thread should bring up problems especially with MP games, i will not put things like e.g. nerfing catapults on my list since that's not a pure MP problem. i also don't really know what to put on the top of the list and what at the bottom, so i will just give my 10 items without prioritizing them (most are already mentioned anyway i think).
- crashes and freezes during startup ... host drop bug occurs every second game and the leave and rejoin procedure if the game freezes on startup is just too time consuming (and even doesn't work every time). looking at the pings is a waste, 0-pings show nothing, i had games where i had 0-pings to all but 1 player but just that player dropped after we waited for minutes.
- start positions should be assignable before game start ... it's nice to pick teams that are fair, balanced with good and not so good players. but if one team gets only the best players on front and the other the weaker, it's not much fun to see you front dieing unable to help in any way. and if this happens early, you can't even compensate it in the long run.
- MOD games should be listed in the lobby even if you didn't have the MOD loaded ... can't be hard to make a new column showing MODed games like pitboss games. i would love to try new MODS in MP but nearly always i load up something, the MOD lobby is empty. can't be that players need to find themselves elsewhere if they want to play MODs.
- show pings in staging ... this is a MUST, i was in lots of games lately that were scrapped because of lagginess or that lasted like 5h. sometimes only a reboot is needed and the pings are fixed, but having to do this once the game is started results in a scrap 99%.
- blinking OOS message ... it's bad enough such errors occur so often, but this OSS message is just needless. with changing values and blinking all the time it is hard to even guess who's OOS - ever tried to stop this disco with pause? good luck ...
- MP vote screen ... this one needs to be timed out if you don't come to a conclusion, let's say after a fixed period w/o an agreement the majority vote wins. maybe make the value changeable by host in staging.
- assignable OCC value ... what about a simple input field for city challange just like city elim and turn limit. so the host can change the value of how many cities each civ can build, that would bring some variety to city challange games. although OCC is kinda popular atm, most players don't like playing only 1 city (don't know if they would be more happy with 2 or 3 though).
- leaders in random games ... won't be much fun being on the wrong side in a 4v4 anc teamer with other team randomly getting mali, aztecs, zulu and egypt. like said before either make it possible to exclude some civs from the pool in random games or just add in an option like 'same leaders for each team' that can be ticked by host.
- pausing the game ... this is getting bad lately, it shouldn't be possible to just pause the game when you want. in some cases short before or during an attack this can cause massive problems leading to heavy argues (check some threads in the forum). there should be an option like if one player presses pause, all other players will get a message like 'player xxx demands a pause' and the game only really pauses if another player (maybe from the other team) pressed pause too.
- gifting units ... this is just a personal impression, but imho there should be an option to allow/disallow the gifting of units in MP games. it is even more interesting if all players move their units alone and need to play more like a team planning attacks together than just gifting all to one player. it would make the unit maintance like it should be for every player and will prevent the gifted UU upgrading like knights to cossacks.
oh well, while writing this alot more things came to my mind but i guess these are my most important ...

hi vikingshaman, first of all welcome to the ladder, i hope you enjoy your experience. now to your questions: 1. & 2. there is no need for a special account, just log in to gamespy with your existing account and join any ladder game once you registered. the only thing you should be aware of is that your gamespy account name needs to be identical to your ladder name, keep that in mind when you register - if you already signed up with a different name, just ask an admin to rename your account to match your gs id since only one account per player is allowed. 3. there is no need to join any clan, neither you have to know every ladder member. just join a game in lobby (ppl will check if you are a registered member), let me suggest to start with cton style games (basically a FFA with always war, no tech trading, random civs, no game-detail related (private) chat and mostly turn and city elim limit set) since ladder gaming is a little different to normal multiplayer or singleplayer games. after some games you will recognize some players and get known, teamers will then be on the plan (if you like ). don't worry if you don't get into password protected teamers directly, ppl like to play with other known members to minimize the risk of newer players ruining a team game - your time will come once you get some games on your stats if you like to play with a certain group, found some mates or just want to be part of a clan, you might consider having a look into the clan section of the forum, not necessary but lots of fun ... 4. www.myleague.com/civ4players is the only site where you need to register (beside the forum which needs extra registration, but since you started this thread i guess you found out already ;D). all ladder related things can be found on that page, wether it's reporting, tournaments or just info about standings, player and statistics. regarding the report process, at myleague ONLY the looser has to report a game, if you are the winner, you just sit back, watch your daily reports and wait until all related stats are being changed according to your win. if you are the looser, you are in duty of reporting - it's different for FFA (like cton) style games and teamers. easy one first, if your team lost a teamer, you need to report to EVERY player on the opponent team (regardless if the were already killed or not, the WHOLE team wins or the WHOLE team loses). in a FFA type game, if you get killed, you have to report a loss to EVERY player still alive regardless of the point standings. if you manage to stay alive until a final victory condition is reached, you have to report a loss to EVERY player ahead of you in points. only the player who came in 1st place does not have to do a report ... e.g. if you finish 3rd in a 5 player cton, you will have to report a loss each to 2nd and 1st player and you will get a report each from player in 4th and 5th position. hope i could help you, if you have any questions left, feel free to post it here or email an admin. greetz AOE

there is a mod named "dale's combat mod" (link somewhere in the mod section, only for vanilla though) where the way bombardment is used was changed more to the way it works in c3c - so you can select a tile and bombard it (i don't know if catas have a strength at all or if they are even able to normally attack, did not test it because of explanation following). this way it's even worse, i tried some games with the conclusion that catas are even more powerful. just sit in city with your stack, wait till attacker's stack arrives and just bombard out of safe city dealing damage to enemy stack but not loosing any health at all - how funny is that? you don't even loose a single cata, so you can do same at start of next turn again leaving a heavily wounded attacker stack with you in full health if you can grab a safe place, like a forest hill early and fortify enough units on it, you can shoot back and make it even more funny. just send some catas there and do some hilarious bombard on city defender stack ... it's only a race of collateral damage then, the luckily does more will wipe out the other after 20 bombard rounds ;D

thanks for all your kind words and congrats, i'm not the one to swing a big speech, so i will just try to prove myself a good choice doing my part in the admin team as good as i can. Hopefully this doesn't mean she plays less heh, i will play as often as now - one of the aspects i accepted was that i love playing civ and especially you mad ladderites (ok, maybe sometimes i'd like to through comp outta window - but that's mainly i played bad or the bugs made me go mad ;D) regards aoe
