I find this post very interesting to compare with the post started by cv431410 about MLL. I do not endorse what MLL did in anyway but that sort of thing happens often with teamers without pws. As has been said there are many posts on the subject of new players getting into teamers. I suggest you look into the archives to see what has been said by previous new players to the ladder.
The advice you are given on the other post is to play more ctons, learn how ladder players play before getting into teamers and try some open teamers before getting into a vet teamer. I agree with this advice, there is nothing worse than a noob on the front doing basic things wrong.
The reason why I have posted this here is to follow up on some your suggestions about front line play and teamer play in general.
You said:
1) Front line players do not have time to make settlers, and quite often, not even for workers. That responsibility should fall into the second line players. Unfortunately, most of the second line players do not understand this, even when I beg them for settlers and workers, I still do not get them.
You are quite right that most second line players dont understand this. If I was behind you on the front and you asked for workers and settlers I would think we have no chance of winning. The basics of early Ren games is to get workers out asap. Chop the B....cks out of your land. Get at least 3 workers and a settler out quick. The other advice you have recieved from Mookie and others is good and should be followed.
You talk a lot about team cooperation and you seem to expect if you are front line then it all revolves around you. There is no doubt team cooperation could be better esp when it comes to coordianting attacks but you also need to accept your role as a front line player.
Unless you are very good (and there are only a few very good front line players, I'm not one.) you need to be more defensive and at least keep the enemy out of the teams land. If you can hassle the opposing front line player all well and good but part of your role is to buy time for the back players to build up a decent civ so they can out produce and tech the other team.
The front player can rightfully expect an artist and the longbows from back civs and maybe a gradual trickle of units but he shouldnt expect or demand that others make up for his deficiencies.
It seems to me that you are a typical new ladder player. You have done well in most games you have played and so have joined the ladder expecting to do well still. Most ladder players almost have to learn the game again when they join. Its faster and the kills come quicker. You are going about the right way in asking questions. My advice to you would be to read all the strategy forums, play more ctons, learn to kill good players and gradually you will be invited to the vet games. All the players who play vet games had to earn their stripes. Dont be put off by the odd rude ladder players. We do welcome new players willing to learn. I look forward to seeing you around.
