no levi, i wont. I will simply play to win, that's reward enough. If I play and if I win I'll take the money and trophy for two reasons: 1. Donate money to charity = good karma and rng god may reward me. 2. Makes MGT marginally less wealthy.

That is rather unkind dude, saying I won cause you guys weren't familiar with the map when you chaps had been playing these settings longer. For a player used to quick and noble difficulty, the change to normal and prince should have been very tricky to handle, whilst for you chaps, second nature. Of course, I'll be trying to defend my title, largely as it was well run and good fun last time, but also that is a killer prize for a Civ4 addict to go for, the new addon

Do you think someone donating 3 tickets from a raffle to increase potential ladder activity or a general interest in civ4 means they are shamefully advertising? I think its a total mis-read of motive Well, Battleravage could just have given the money straight to charity instead of buying tickets in the first place. Guys, once you get a job, just setup a standing order or two to charities you value and you've done a good thing. Hell, the Devil moralising to you lot, I better have a lie down.

I believe that people should give money according to conscience and not require stunts and events to do what they should.
Many of these so-called charity events don't see any money going to charity and it is just a publicity exercise and vulgar.

DeviousDevil did not complete the registration process, nor did he show up to play. Was in an epic game of Civ, could hardly leave given how much fun it was.

I've seen them built. If they'd put 1 tech still before you reach rifles, I think cuirassiers would get more usability also. Much depends on the game you play too. I've built them twice now, once in my first renaissance cton game, where I used them 2vs1 on cavalry to good success on my way to victory and then yesterday on an earth map (non-ladder) which I dominated The nice thing is it is very cheap to upgrade knights to cuirassiers.

Want to land at the end of a turn, right behind the lines...follow up with a fighter strafe and take cities? Or maybe you just want to land and pillage towns to villages like a right devil. Then you too want paratroopers!!! From the later stages of a multiplayer ladder ironman game. Sirpartyman replacing DrShot (Blue) and TheMightyBoosh (Purple). No doubt if the enemy has air superiority to strafe these chaps then they won't be as good, and tanks will surely ruin their day (though I could slap on ambush). But to come down and burn towns, to block and better to cut roads instantly, these guys are a brilliant addition which I have been asking for, for ages. It was just nice to have them finish off this game as a contest really. Thank you firaxis for my airborne gods.

The civic change can only be to what you are having yourself. So if you wanna make a enemy change to despotism, you need to be in despotism yourself. In other words, if you want to make your enemy have sucky civics, you need to have/use sucky civics yourself. But i agree, this should not be a thing a spy could do.It could be James Bond 007 for all i care, but even him would find it a "mission impossible" to change a entire gouverment from monarchy to despotism. Its just not reality based. Poision water, cause unhappiness, bring revolt in a single city for 1 turn, destroy buildings, steal information and so on is "possible" Yeah, well NOM was simply out to harm me, so he was going to be in rubbish civics or given how rubbish his civ was, those were probably his best civics.

Just played a non-ladder ironman game with a few ladder players and boy spies are just evil if someone whose civ you've trashed just goes entirely espionage on you. I still won, but at one point, I had NO civics as numberonemercurys spies had switched them all. This is despite my having a spy in each city (often more) which often saw 4-5 spies killed when he'd make a real effort. Eventually my privateers dealt with his means of delivering spies, I got to combustion and soon everyone needed to be elsewhere as my destroyers took revenge. The civic switch thing is really evil as it doesn't let you change civics for 5 turns...and it gives a weapon that even poor nations can use against you. NOM was okay to do all this as another player had surrounded me in frigates...and I had no iron

Hmm, my suggestion for spies...
That they can only see the tile "in front of them" or not at all, they really should be there to do the nasty.
E.g the tile forward of the direction they moved into the tile.
That way they cannot be as effective as scouts and spys in cities die very easily to counter-spys.
Spys also can be hugely effective for the attacker, people just aren't using them right and I am not going to start giving people ideas.

I suspect you can't "improve enemy lands" let me try .... hm - if you have 7 workers to spare in ancient you can do it lol. I wonder if it counts as pillaging a cottate too? Does it actually give you a defense bonus in enemy territory? CS I've told you already NO!!!

Is it possible to rush opponent with mass units with few workers in stack and everytime you move stack you build a fort in enemy culture so your units always have a bonus 25 percent defense as you approuch your city of choice? No. Forts in enemy culture don't work for you. You get no defense bonus taking or building a fort that is in enemy culture unless there has been an unnoticed change from Warlords.

Dog Warrior is strong, build skirms or bowmen, or even protective archers to kill them. Protective archer + Shock (from barracks) = 1-2 first strikes + 25% vs melee should give you equal footing vs Dog Warrior. In open ground perhaps, but no-one worth a damn doesn't use terrain with defensive bonus.

PS. GIVE US OUR PINGS BACK!!! Yeah. Thank you to you RaY boyz that didn't ensure that the advanced start was properly tested for bugs, that we've a pinger with no noise and that the dog (GOD) warrior is: 1. Abit strong. 2. Comes rather early - at least it should come with ironworking. Thought you guys were all going off to play some other game... You think you got it bad. With Conquests I won their competetion to get a free copy for the amount of scenario testing I did, I go off on holiday. Come back and they decided to extend the tourney so that Krill got ahead of me as I was away. Call it karma.
