Thanks for making it so that all of the free copies of BTS you gave out to the beta testers for their hard work no longer work in MP. Thanks for closing down the beta test so there is nowhere to thank you in person for this great disservice. After all the hard work we put in you decide to bug our copy with a patch that creates a redundant error. Funny thing is, all of the SP testers get off fine because they don't even log in to the lobby where you're required to update. I guess the joke is on us.
After all the time and effort I donated (which I don't believe was even worth it now considering you pretty much ignored every serious MP request and balance issue we brought up), I'm not about to shell out my money on this farce of an expansion pack.
See you all in Civ5.
Peace.

(and thanks to all who were testers and gave access to BtS beta to all of their non-tester friends thus prompting firaxis' actions)

Mookie, perhaps you should get ALL the facts before you post. Firaxis had long plans to close the forums, and these were just accelerated by the fact that an *MP* tester leaked that free copy of BTS by foolishly putting it on a Bittorrent. That was one reason that they made a patch that killed the free copy we got. Which was really just a nicety, as it was inevitable that a patch would eventually break our free copy. And if you were to read the general forum here, you would have noticed that I asked for MP testers that wanted to remain involved to contact me, because there is a new forum for us....but unfortunately few have took my up on that offer.

Perhaps I do not have all the information on the issue - but it does ring weird to break the MP 'bittorent' leaked version of BtS only. I cannot believe this is the case. I would argue that both SP and MP would have been prevented from using the pre released version. The only problem being that the only way to 'prevent' the pre released version from functioning is to update it somehow. Hence the on-line solution. So I do not think it was a malicious act targeting the MP community, but an unfortunate comedy of errors.
Perhaps the official testers should be gifted a released copy of the game (or a gift certificate for it) at least. No?
So I feel your 'pain' Mookie - just try to see things from the other perspective, so that you don't feel as though you are being insulted even though you may be being neglected a well deserved thank you.

PS. GIVE US OUR PINGS BACK!!! Yeah. Thank you to you RaY boyz that didn't ensure that the advanced start was properly tested for bugs, that we've a pinger with no noise and that the dog (GOD) warrior is: 1. Abit strong. 2. Comes rather early - at least it should come with ironworking. Thought you guys were all going off to play some other game... You think you got it bad. With Conquests I won their competetion to get a free copy for the amount of scenario testing I did, I go off on holiday. Come back and they decided to extend the tourney so that Krill got ahead of me as I was away. Call it karma.

We missed the Advanced Start bug. I guess no one ever thought of abusing the system in that way. Our bad.
The ping idea was added last minute and there was nothing any of us could do about it at that point. We have and are complaining endlessly about it though.
Dog Warrior is strong, build skirms or bowmen, or even protective archers to kill them. Protective archer + Shock (from barracks) = 1-2 first strikes + 25% vs melee should give you equal footing vs Dog Warrior.

In open ground perhaps, but no-one worth a damn doesn't use terrain with defensive bonus.

Strong, but only game-breaking vs noobs

I don't realy think dog warriors are that great. By the time one gets to the enemy they wil almost certainly have metal of some sort. Skirmishers are better by far. War chariots and impis, though, you can't possibly dismiss their power.

Yeah skimishers are cheaper and of the same str value and get better defensive bonuses, you can get say 3 skmishers fo every 2 dogs, in teamers getting archery is Super fast and generally speaking in ctons dog-rushes are often reckless IMO.
But the problem is when the distances are very small and the other guy doesnt have skirmishers. Then they can be awfully nasty. Getting your archers up to melee and double first strike is not an option, because by the time you do youll have dogs all over you.
