I have been soliciting sponsors in the lobby for several months now, and I have had success getting MrGameTheory to sponsor non-ladder, cash tournaments and Bantams to sponsor trophies for the ladder CCCs. Most recently a new sponsor, BattleRavage, has generously donated three tickets to a charity raffle. Each ticket cost the sponsor $20 and a winning ticket is worth $500. Five (or more) tickets will be drawn depending on how many tickets are sold.
The purpose of this poll is to give the ladder admin staff a feeling for the opinion of the ladder community as to whether or not the ladder should allow this type of charity benefit tournament or not. Currently the ladder admins do not allow any cash tournaments to be run using cases ladder software. Keep in mind, the results of this poll are not binding, the decision of the admin staff must be the final word.
If the Admins decide that this type of charity benefit should not be run on Cases ladder, then I will run it as an open event, in the same way that I currently run the MGT Ca$h Cla$$ic. I think I will run it as a 3v3 Medieval Era single elimination tournament. Each member of the winning team will receive one of the three tickets that were donated. The drawing for the raffle will be held Saturday April 28th so I will hold the tournament a week or two before that date. BattleRavage has put my name on the raffle ticket stubs, so if they draw my name, I will collect the money and give it to the lucky winner.
This particular charity benefit is run by the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, located in Eau Claire, WI USA. It benefits four separate charities: The Masonic Learning Centers, Schizophrenia Research, Abbott College Scholarships and the National Heritage Museum. (license # R0019167A-03357)
