Well, like many of you, I'm not a SUPER SECRET BETA TESTER, so the first news I've seen of Warlords has come from this forum and from this extensive IGN article.Mostly I just wanted to highlight the fact that because I had to check my pants after that one. I'm really looking forward to 5- and 6-upgrade stacks of 80 cavs. What are your secret clever new strategies that occur to you from the Warlords info so far?

The way I read the Great Wall - it's only effect is to keep Barbarians out of your early territory, no mention about what it does for enemy civs, either AI or Human.

Just looking through the New/revised leader traits: These will have some changes in regards to leader picks:
Qin is now Ind/Pro. Inca is the new Qin. Napolean is Cha/Org. No more triple promo musketeers w/barracks+theo Gandhi is Phi/spi. No longer Ind. Kind of a Gandhi/saladin blend (Saladin is now Pro Spi)
With new leaders Ramses really stands out. Ind Spi with War Chariots. a Zulu is natural Egypt counter with 2 move anti horse impi with barracks.
Most Unique buildings dont do a whole long a few stand out.
England: Now even more of a Financial powerhouse. w/+65% commerce banks Mali: Free commerce from a building (Forge) I want to build anyways. Nice
Dont really know the impact of the new traits on the game until I get to play it..of course.

That's nuts, you could get a stack of 50 commandos (commando upgrade allows you to use enemy roads and railroads).
That would simply be unstoppable.
Ghandi is a little bit weaker now that he doesn't have industrious although philosophical is still good. Mali and Aztec will also get a boost with their unique buildings and the fact their good traits remain. Russian research institute and Stalins traits also look good.

Not 20 xp to each unit

This might be an alternative way to get an early artist "Greek Alexander - Aggressive, Philosophical Greek Odeon, replaces Colosseum +3 culture, +1 happiness from hit singles, can turn 2 citizens into Artists" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Looks like cata's down to 4 strengt (thats fair) But i guess we'll still be spamming them out - and this one take some of the longbows heavy citydefence "Trebuchet Strength 4, Move 1, Cost 60 The Trebuchet is a medieval siege unit that functions as a more powerful version of the Catapult. In addition to the Catapult's main abilities, the Trebuchet reduces city defenses by another 10% per turn and, more importantly, has a full 100% city attack bonus. The Trebuchet requires Engineering and upgrades to the Cannon once you discover Steel." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WOW it look like its 20p to every unit in same tile:"Any units that happen to be in the same tile when the Warlord is created, gain an additional twenty experience points."
This will surely be the big change in the game, aggression will be heavely revarded, sitting back and defending while city building, will often get you killed by an aggressive opponent.
(picture this: P1: hey suzker, why do ya keep attacking me, im the worst lowlife in this game, kill someone else P2: Sorry mate but i need the points, for my warlord) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Making the mounted civs even more dangerous ** Stable is a new building available with Horseback Riding. It costs 60 hammers and adds +2 XP to mounted units. The stable's bonus is cumulative with a barrack's. not to mention: Mongolian Ger, replaces Stable New mounted units receive +2 experience points (a total of 4 excl. the ones from barrack ?)

I saw the +3 xp barracks comment also..I wasnt going to post it since i did not believe that information was released publicly in any previews (was a post from a tester apparently). Regardless of that the Ger makes Mongols a viable option in Ren. Very easy to get Hero units and easier to get Warlords, etc. Glad the beefed horses up a bit esp for Anc era. Hopefully it wont overpower the Ren era. I have not seen anything yet about Cossacks being changed (of course maybe they have but we wont know until the game is released).
