Is rank the only reason why we play these games??? i REMEMBER BEING TOP 5 IN C3C AND IT WAS MY LEAST ENJOYABLE TIME IN LADDER!!!
even though i enjoy the ranking system i do think it is flawed...in the old days rank meant something(you chose your civ first for example) today rank is not neccesarily an indication of skill(please no offense to anyone holding rank right now because i do believe currently skill is definitely there) but as the ladder get older and more people play and more type of scenarios get made the ladder gets diluted
just look a our C3C ladder at the end it was dominated by future players....i know of few them wouldnt hold a chance against a well seasoned vet in an ancient game...the ladder is what it is and we all live by the rules that have been set up at the begginning....remember when u signed up an it asked you "do you agree to all these rules"
Instead of complaining do something constructive and help our ladder system...you may say you are helping but flaming and attacking isnt the way to go here gents!!!!

ya cause future was the only format played
also these guys were dedicated - they proly lacked a bit of overall skillz - but played a f**king lot - got better and took in the end n1
thats what i expect from our top 3 (and other top 10) players aswell - play more often and play all guys and different formats

You can't expect someone to do that. Their lives aren't going to start revolving around civ just because they gained some rank. They do have real life priorities as well. There needs to be some middle of the road balance here guys. There does need to be movement in the top 10 to keep it interesting but at the same time you can't nag our top 10 players to play every damn second of free time they have.
Believe me they know they have to play and defend their rank. I'm sure balancing that with real lives is enough pressure. They don't need the rest of the community nagging them to death about their playing time.

Myself and several other veterans hated future. It was just that all of the top ten future players played only future, and people like me, Heroray, and several others who had been top ten in the past and did not like future were basically SOL. I hear a lot of complaining by people who are upset that the top ten are only playing certain people, or a certain type of game (be it 1 vs 1 or whatever) As far as I am concerned, it is within their right to choose what game style they want, and as long as they play a reasonable amount of time, they are fine. Leave them alone. Just because the days of future era Civ 3 are dead, doesnt mean that your day of glory is dead with it.

i take offense to that tommy...there were many of us that were on every night but just did not enjoy the future scenario...to say we were less dedicated to the game...is a slap to the face of any vet who has been here since the PTW days...for those people who made this ladder what you enjoy today...as my dad once told me "respect your elders son"
all i am saying is that with the old ladder in C3C is that you had no chance to get number 1 much less in the top 10 unless you played future...and no one forced any of the future players to join ancient games so others had a shot at the top 10 positions
Now we are sitting here and the top 10 players are being chastised for not playing 30 games a week when by rules they only need to play every 3 to 5 days to maintain their positions....
we all agreed when we signed up for this ladder league to follow the rules of the ladder that were put out for us...now you and others are flaming people because the rules are not suiting your needs and wants...
i currrently wish that i could play more on civ 4, but at the moment i cant due to my job situation and a new baby so i play when i can...i once was able to dedicate every free moment i had to this game, life no longer allows me to do that
