I was involved yesterday in a ladder teamer, long story short, opposing team loses a city to a sneak attack, their player retires (even though he's not dead), game gets reloaded because the player who retired claims he cant get in, blah blah blah. In reload room, we're in for a couple minutes, one of our players announces in lobby that he has to reboot because he cant connect. Immediately, the whole opposing team (who has lost a city) leaves the staging room without a word, and declares the game scrapped, even while our staging room is still waiting, I see those players joining another game. We let them know we dont want a scrap, it goes ignored.
Whatever, no big deal. I quit, join the next game, and let the players that were there from the last game know that I fully intend on filing a report. I think I've reported about twice in the year plus that I've played on this ladder. Its just not that important to me. But this was clearly a case of an experienced group looking at a less experienced group that had an edge on them, and choosing not to play the game. They want to push the issue, I told them this is a new game, plead their case to admin after I report.
Immediately, i get from these guys "we're never playing with you again if you file, we'll get you banned if you file, just like we did with (another player)". Thing is, it's completely true. There is a small and very vocal group of players that spend a whole lot of time and energy trying to prevent others from playing. "Dont let so and so in, he filed a report." Often with a fair ammount of success. Like some juvenile bully, this guy starts name calling and being a child, and telling everybody else they shouldnt play with this guy.
Its not like these players that this guy is trying to "ban" are rude, bad, or detrimental players, they simply want him to follow ladder rules.
I'm not posting this to air any personal drama, as I really dont care, but this type of behavior makes the game a whole lot less fun to play for me, and I'm sure it does for anyone else involved in it. Especially people in the staging room that arent involved. People are welcome to choose to play when and with whom they want. It certainly shouldnt be tolerated to have someone start name calling, and general slander on the ladder because of a dispute over silly reports.

1 sneak attack city kill doesn't mean you've won the game, and I can't help but wonder what the other side of the story is.

The other game seemed more appealing perhaps?

Absolutely right, Z. I never claimed that the game was over or that it was a certain victory, only that we had an edge. If I wanted to play a game that was scrapped after every noob city drop, I'd play non-ladder. That wasnt really the point of the post, though.
The point of the post is that the group of ladder players that are behaving like 12 year old children who were never raised to respect other people is growing, and annoying. They cant follow ladder rules, and cant even manage to follow rules of courtesy and respect. It's rather annoying that these people continue their blather and manage to successfully "blacklist" people for reporting them rather than defend themselves to the administrators. This is quite the bully feature; "Report me, and I'll make sure nobody ever plays ladder games with you, just like we did with (person x)". I think throwing that kind of crap around ought to get you a nice little suspension. I dont play the game to have to put up with that crap, if I plead my case and you plead your case to an impartial administrator, and agree to let that person make the decision, which essentially you do when you join the ladder, it should be easy and fun, not a case of someone spewing poison crap. it just shouldnt be that vitriolic.

Well the Admin team would take a pretty dim view of behaviour like that. But you have to press that "prnscn" button when they are spouting that drivel, and sent it to me, I'll be glad to do my part.

You have to remember that some of us are children, im 9 years old so cant always behave like an adult...
Maybe introduce a 10 Rank penalty or a clearing of the members highest stats....

Playing a few ladder teamers lately, due to the fact that OCC was ruined by the Park & the Spy. And im getting same impression, when a team loose a city, suddently someone drop, and it takes a hole lot of waiting to get the game going again. Even sometimes "something important" suddently comes up, and they need a SUB. Best case someone want to conseed others dont, game is paused bla bla bla.
Sometimes y play 3 teamers in a row, and not a single game gets more than 20-30 turns.
Nowadays its like noone want to play, just want to win, and if they cant, lets conseed. Sad, takes a lot of fun outa the game.

Good thing is only a few player act like this and can easily be ignored. Yes unfortunately as are most problems on the ladder, it is 1% of the players causing 99% of the problems, and we tend to focus on these issues to the exclusion of realizing that in most cases 100's of games are played each week with no problems. There should be an entire thread dedicated to just want 9iron is saying here. This is hands down exaclty what is going on now. It used to be impossible to get in a teamer, and when you did you kept your mouth shut and did as told.

Grumble grumble... I was in the game TBS spoke of in the first post. The games demise went down mostly like he says it had. The comments were made as he claims. I did not originally post(reply) as I did not want to get involved. Now, I do not remember who else was in the game, prolly would if some details were brought up, but really I do not want to relive the experience. I simply wrote it off as dark times for all...

1 sneak attack city kill doesn't mean you've won the game, and I can't help but wonder what the other side of the story is. Well Zzz you are long enough at the ladder to know that all players have to accept a scrap! Sec that way of stooping a game is weak..You playing to have a challenge, even if the other team takes a city doesn't mean you have lost that game ! Learned that more then one time from a mahatma Lady.. Cton Back to the topic, well its easy a small penalty wouldn't be bad for those players to remind them there are still rules
