also 1 thing that needs to be impruved for mp (maybe already mentioned, or already exisit and i am to dumb to see it ), like in civ3 build previous unit switch or something, i hate when those build orders pop up when u r right in middle of attack Ctrl-O, "Minimize Popups" = only appear at end of turn, after all moves are done.

The only drawback for me is that I have large hands and fingers. Sometimes it's kinda tough getting into the tight spaces. rofl, you dirty old man btw computer builders: How much soddering do you have to do? How do you know how many fans & heatsinks you need? Do you get illegal copies of programs? or do you pay the full price for Windows, MS Works, Excel, Outlook Today, and any other program? And after purchasing all of those, is it still less than buying a pre made? I knew that one was coming. No soldering, everything gets plugged into sockets (smart ass reply expected). The fan(s) and heatsinks are already mounted on the motherboard and graphics card. I already had all the MS software from my old system, so for me that was not an issue. I suppose you should budget $150 for the software unless you wanna use pirated stuff. btw MS Works blows.

Yes, you can even use some of your old things like keyboard/mouse/screen/cd-drive/speakers/software and such. My keyboard is almost 8 years old But, do ask somebody who has done it before you start selecting the parts you want. First time is never easy.

hmm i'm half convinced to build my own now, it's really that easy? its common sense the motherboard has a diagram showing where everything goes. the heatsinks and fans aren't always attached u can buy motherboard cpu combos which are generally assembled but this is not he only way the most important thing when building your own is to research exactly what it is u want and make sure everythings compatible. Also, make sure u earth yourself before working on the innards. just remember any pc can only go as fast as the slowest part - no point buying a $500 processor and a $50 graphics card

building pc yourself is proly not much cheaper but far more fun and u can have excactly the components u want to have - in fact u get quality products for the same price as no name products which u get when buying a dell or so. I just prefer a plextor dvd writer to some crap writer for example ANOTHER really nned to be patched thing is the weired map sizes - wtf is standard not = stadard? who ever thought standard maps shouldnt have same sizes should take the go to jail card right away. ya there is this thread in forum explaining each type and size of map - but is it any userfriendly??? same thing as which th nonlinking of units and other stuff to civelopia - designers didnt think bout users - pls do so in the patch just far too often is happened that we had some map where either 2 started so close to each other that they had contact in t1 (d be proly quite nice in a ffa but not in a cton) or that the map was so big that u dint meet more then half (or less) of player all game I played now a really nuts laod of games but i still havent really a clue how big map ll be when doing standard size

There is a web based map guide at 'poly, which I linked to in the maps thread, you can't get more user friendly than that.

a user friendly game dont need guides
at least not for such a basic feature as starting a game on a "standard" map

ah ya 1 more bug: when I try to join lobby but have no internet conection it causes a total breakdown of my PC.
sure it s my fault to try without being connected but other games just ask then for interent for example. a total breakdown where no key combination or anything helps is just not accepatable in any problem case all i can do is press reset

Then if you use the ATI graphic cards trade up. Which if i understand it as i don't quite yet, you can give them any ol graphics card you have and they will give a new one for $50 dollars. one that cost around $200.

another few random points - couldnt find em listed above - not sure if they was fixed in the last patch (if so just ignore or remove my post) - i saw the game startup with defeated msg right away... the guy somehow had no settler or unit when the game started - hotjoining didnt solve it as well. - the game sometimes doesnt load after selecting my civ in hotjoin (infinitely shows me loading)..i saw this one repeatedly.... either it works at once or it doesnt at all ...even after 10th attemp. - i remember a game where names was swapped once the game started....suddenly my name was that of some other guy (at least when talking) - a minor bug (it was always there in c3c too): the game doenst prevent all sound device faults.. thus makes it ctd on startup when the device is somehow deactivated (i use an external adat device for getting some sync on sound device - its more like the music production configuration than that a typical gamer would use, so not very important -....still it crashes when i forget to switch it on.) device and directx somehow can be detected but not activated....not sure on the exception id it causes but can figure out if needed. Yes hosts should check player numbers (to right of name) to make sure there are no gaps. Don't launch a game with player numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 (skipping player 4). Players don't have to leave and rejoin the room they can simply modify their player numbers so there are no "gaps".
Best, SPM
