l total agreen colonies must be in!!!! my suggest is also: - more time for chop becose l think here will be a over chopping strategy -buil spear with no resource if u neighboard(egypt) have horse in cap he can easy kill u or at least screw -l dont like free warrior at the start -put in some rusher civ that have warrior or swordman or axe man with 2 move

The colony debate went round and round and round, with lots of points on both sides. The short version is: Don't expect it anytime soon.

I can't for the life of me imagine why anyone would be opposed to them. Colonies have been an important aspect of human civilization through the ages. Is it because people believe they would be too powerful in the early game? Fine - have a prerequisite tech then. Why no colonies Friedrich?

Make a civ4 game mod with added colonies and spears with no bronze (sticks and stones) and you'll have... CIV3!

y compltly agree with sdn, spears should be made wo copper, or maybe with copper u get better spear or something, else if ur cose enemy got horse in cap ur dead or so screwed taht u cant do anything. archers can defend city well, but basicy u cant get rid of em, so u r forced to stay in city and get pillaged (and ther it goes ur road to copper...)and sice they cost same u cant overproduce (since ur pilged) enemy who can just build and send em to u (they r faster so u cant counter attack or something eather) and if u want anti horse promotion u need 2 star unit already.... almost imposible in very early game.... spears wo copper or iron!! another thing, would be nice if u wouldnt see number of units in city, now ur forced to hold em in city cous u know taht enemy will attack if only 1 in, and uget pilaged cous u didnt even try to do something...

there should be an option to select what huts could give, an early woodsman II warrior can be quite unfair..

suggesions for "tribal village" goodie huts:
1 - Go to Jail, Directly to Jail, do not pass go or end turn; remain in penalty box for 5 turns (unless you have number 2) -
2 - Get out of Jail Free bonus.
3 - 20 turns of "unlimited life" where the unit can't be killed (like Super Mario Brothers)
4 - INSTANT GAME WIN - Kind of like a scratchNsniff Lotto ticket (offer void in NewJersey and Maine; all applicable Civ Laws apply)

Could this game also be patched to have a more diverse placement of civs... it seems to me that civs are a lot closer in Civ 4 than any other of it's predecessors, now I have heard and read and am getting bombarded with the concept that CIV4 is different than any previous civ and a new game/genre/experience than any previous, nevertheless, there are some things which can be improved upon. I've played several 1v1's and in every game our civs are within 20 squares of each other... and of course, the other player has horses and cows in his cap, and is able to pop two warriors each time which enter my land by turn 12 and begin their pillaging spree loads of fun!

in last game I tried highland map - and was set to a spot with ALL (2-3 grass in cap) tundra. iron and horse as strategic resourses were more then 5 tiles away from cap - so i had to get cities for em - but cities in tundra tend to not grow beyond 4 science slowed down - till it reached 0 Not True Tommy...Get those windmills up, get a single food from every hilltop!!

"Improvise...adapt..overcome" - Gunny Highway (Clint Eastwood) in "Heartbreak Ridge" A few days ago, someone tried to choke me with warriors. I built a few warriors in my cap and turtled em, culture got me 20 then 40% bonus def. I got archery quick, built a few archers while I was researching Bronze Working. I spotted bronze 5 tiles diagonally away from my cap, but closer to my enemy. I move 2 archers and 2 warriors and a settler out and flopped ON the bronze (the city was not ideally placed, but still) upgraded the 2 warriors to axes, and carnage began on the warriors in my area. Cleaned em out, then moved my promoted axes to return the favor!! Needless to say, I was able to get a kill on him a bit later in the game. DONT's:: Whine Cry Blame the designers GIVE UPDO's:: Examine every possible move Give the good Fight Let them KNOW you wont roll over!! "Cowards die many times before their deaths, The valiant never taste of death but once." William Shakespeare --From Julius Caesar (II, ii, 32-37) my 2 cents!!

How many people early on in CIV3 said that there was no defense to a jag rush, or a large double move stack, pillage tactics by sum or zulu...in every RTS game i have played on line the offense has always got the jump ion tactics but i guarantee the counters will be figured out and implemented...using the concepts of C3C for attacking and defending will not work here.... You need to think in a whole new realm of possibilities...isnt this what everyone was complaining about in C3C that it was boring...because almost all tactics had been figured out and countered and recountered...my god this game is only a month old!!! Remember when a kill stack was 20 at the end it was 50-100...our game is evolving...i have already countered a rush from another civ that was using chariots...still having problems with Rome and early iron but am sure something will come about...the greatest weapon i have is not the patch that is coming but my mind, ingenuity, and resourcefulness...scary thought huh<<<<wipes the drool from lip

dishr,
Dont be fooled by the darkside. Go buy Chutes and Ladders, it has about as much strategy as this new game they call CIV.
Vermillon,
I love that cat, you need to change your name to Toonces from SNL.

Sheesh....thanks for the help guys, CS!!!!!!!!!!! where are you?? and Goddess...Ive had the game for 7 months now and granted there are some things I dont like and some thinks I do, I havent pitched my c3c disc and will continue to play both...Ill figure out which works best for me. What I will never understand is why you sit on these forums when you obviously have no interest in the game..after saying you dont like the game what more of value could you possibly add?

Dish, integrated cards are for users that dont need graphics power.

Well, accountants don't need graphics power. Exept that the bottom line is either black or red.
And frankly the "chutes and ladders" comment was damn funny. Regardless of motive, I find most of The Goddess's comments refreshing.
