I agree with Game theory, after the retire bug the most annoying prob imo was the stacked civics. Why would they fix State Property and just ignore the other two? And if the retire bug isn't really fixed as Smuckey says then pretty much the 2 thigns I actualy cared about are still fawked up. Yippy-kai-yay.

I really hate always being the bad guy, but this patch is a mod not a patch. All the stuff i can see changed are all game features, ie firest chops less sheilds, they take longer, certian civics have higher/lower up keep, some traits are made stonger weeker, etc. I was really hoping for some connection stuff to be rectified. Host dropping this still seems to happen. Agian, i really dont want to be negative, so thanks for the patch, i will test it out a little more tomorrow. It may not be listed but among the specific MP fixes/additions the connection code was optimized along with the memory leaks etc. CS

Don't be ridiculous compared to me your Mahatma Gandhi. Ah off to d/l now. Anyway we'll all let you know I'm sure whether it was worth waiting for Ok seriously, you did fix some serious MP issues and that was a job well done, the actual gaming experience is a lot better. BUT!!!!! congratulation, Gandhi is now a God in every era after ancient, I just tested a few theories and this game is seriously unbalanced. MODIFY: Also, SAY HELLO TO THE AGE OF CHARIOT WARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you mean you have pronounced all this without actual experminentation and what your talking about is on paper? tut tut game maybe you should change your name to game hypothesis? Is this the equivalent of string theory? Or proto science or mathematical mast***ation with no basis in reality? We all know how seriously mainstream sceence takes String theory ;D EDIT: it took 3 minutes to down load, I like it allready

I enjoyed the retire bug in the new patch as well during a teamer today.
Has anyone actually tested out the stackable civics bugs? I was hoping that leaving out Universal Suffrage and Free Speech was more of a typo than an indication it wasn't fixed this time around.

I know this was fixed post early beta testing patches, so I'm hoping there all fixed. Otherwise I've been lied to, oh the horror ;D
One question, how long does it take to get purged for inactivity from the ladder I have been inactive for 42.9 days? How much longer have I got before I lose my ladder account? I will be trying to play later, but if I don't am I liable to find my account deactivated?

Seriously...... on a scale of 1-10...... Civ 4 is Gay....
Lets be a serious for a second,
I started to play Civ 4 because I felt the game was worth an investment in my time. In terms of the general style of the game, I felt that it was possibly the best strategy game ever made. I felt that playing the game would educate me in terms of general strategy and I would be entertained at the same time. It was the concept of Civ 4 that attracted me to this game.
Civ 4 is a product of a company and I am a consumer of that product. In terms of the concept that was introduced with Civ 4, I am pleased, In terms of everything else revolving around the game, I am not. of course I have received my moneys worth on a value scale, but the game could be so much better than it is.
If I was an investor of any kind I would stay away from the company that made this product. Yes Sid Meiers created a great concept, but the way the product is being treated now is garbage. Obviously there are serious problems with the foundation of the game and that is why the company that made this product is unable to fix the bugs in this game. Instead of being able to fix those bugs, they try to please the serious gamers that play it by adding new things into the game, so they are more or less continuing to build on poor foundation.
The only reason why I continue to play this game and I haven't moved on to another game is because I have some kind of sick faith that it will be fixed and also because I have wasted so much time on mastering it.
Civ 4 has the potential to be the best multi player game ever, but the company that created it doesn't feel that it is worth the investment to master the MP and it is just better to push out as many half ass products as possible in order to make money off people who just play against the AI. In reality, if they created a respectable MP game, it would get a reputation among serious gamers as being a game worth there time. It is those serious gamers that set the trends and bring in the masses to the game.
If it comes down to the fact that the Foundation of this game is f**ked and it will take us buying a new $50 game in order to receive a perfectly functional product, than fine, I will buy the product out of the hope of being allowed to play the "game" for what it is supposed to be, for it is worth $50 to have this game fixed.
""" But I am warning you game designers, if you treat this new $50 game the same way you treated this patch, Which is not fix the serious problems and just add new stuff, I will go back to the store I bought this product at and return it, take the money I used to buy the product, and buy "Dark Fall or Age of Empires 3. I will still paly the game every once in awhile, but if the game is garbage MP, than why continue to paly it MP, I will just play the game against the AI and this game provides loads of fun against the AI, enough to last me long enough so I dont have to go buy an updated version and I will just be happy with this copy."""
I am f**king sick of playing 2-3 hours games to just have them crash. I am sick of having to reload game after game after game after game, I am sick of how unbalanced you are making these leaders when it is so damn easy to make this game balanced, I am sick of so much that I dont even want to try and name them all for it would waste my night. I am mad because you guys are taking Gold and turning it into silver.
You may think that what I am saying is rash, you may even think it is stupud, but I don't give a flying f**k and I shouldn't have to wait several months for a patch that was expected to do so much, but ends up really doing nothing that matters.

mgt, I agree with you. I like your post, and would like to put it on the beta forums, but too many swear words and generally may not be too appropriate. However, I dont think Firaxis reads these forums, only CS and Fried do whose job it is to relay our sentiments to them. The peer problem is still there . People are still having connecting-to-host problems. *sigh*. And they havent even fixed the retire bug .

I feel the same way. It's such a shame because I think C4 is such a great game - it didn't even have a lot of bugs, just they seem to be totally ignoring the ones it does. Unless there's some indication that this stuff is being worked on prior to the expansion, there's no way I'll buy the expansion. I might pirate it out of curiousity.

It's all very well bitching about the problems, but instead of bitching, something you seem to be good at, why don't you try a novel approach to improving CIV, ie become a beta tester? You need to be given the link to it by someone who is already a beta tester and to be aproved, maybe you should ask say fried or CS or many of the multitude of other players who beta test to give you a go. You have plenty of ideas of how to improve the game, that's presumably what being a beta tester is all about, I do suggest you moderate how vocal you are about criticism though if you sign up constructive criticism is better than bitching an moaning. Retire bug definitly is not fixed! Neither are some of the civics notagoodname - are you saying that the civics bugs aren't fixed because you've tested it in 1.61, or because they're not mentioned in the readme? My information (a specific answer from Soren in fact) is that all three civics bugs were fixed even though only State Property was mentioned in the changelog. OK, I've just run a quick test (Future, me + 2 AIs in a team). All three of us are in Universal Suffrage but I'm only seeing +1 hammer from my towns, and I'm in Free Speech but my allies are not getting the +2 commerce in their towns. Unless you're seeing something different, I'd say the "stackable" civics definitely are no longer stackable.
