I have just played my turn after the oos which meant a reload. it seems we are back 2 turns or maybe 3. As the game is fairly slow with 1 or 2 turns being played each day having to keep replaying moves is frustrating.
Whip you say you have loaded most recent autosave. Have you got autosave to save every turn or every other turn? If you have c4f it is easy to change the autosave frequency to every turn which is vital for this kind of game.

It's 2 back. I assume one of thos turns was the oos. I don't have civ4f.

One suggestion, if Whip takes a manual save (pain I know - sorry) after his own turn that's an additional up to date marker in the event of a problem.

Any chance that we can get a real-time play session 2-3 hours some weekend? I know it's gunna be tough with 12 players; but it would be nice to be able to pull it off. It would be like a regular real-time MP game with no timer.

Are we all gunna run this with the patch that is imminent? There are balance issues: Expansive gets +50% production for workers, and just +2 health Organized gets cheap Factories Creative gets cheap Libraries If we all patch, players with these traits will morph. We could just keep running with the original Warlords, but that may be an inconvenience for players in real-time MP. My other concern is that if players use different versions PitBoss may detect this and return an error. PS: Version 2.08 is now available.

We are like 10 to 15 turns in... I am not paying attention... If we are having version errors and there is the possibility of all gathering for a few turns, we could begin anew. As to the version error, it may be that Whip D/Led his patch where as most others used the in game patch... Just a suggestion...

Ya, I was afraid of this.
I haven't patched yet, so it's seems that those who have won't connect to the current game.
I'm sure there is a work-around. Meantime, I'll stop the timer until we can figure out what to do.

Note: old save file from version 200 wont load in version 208. I am now running both versions.
I just had Canuck Soldier do a remote control of my computer...he uninstalled warlords,(leaving saves and mods),I was patched........reinstalled, which is old version v200. Then he copied whole warlords folder to new folder named warlords 208...........then patched it. now i have two desktop short cuts one for v200 one for v208.
Since this game just started maybe we should restart it using version 208,(new). Next question.....does the fixed_vr200 pitboss launcher work for v208?. I doubt it....cause i have a bit boss launcher pogram, (off civfanatics), and it doesnt work.

From Canuck Soldier:
For those who want to keep both versions of WL's to finish PBEM or DirectIP pitboss games here's what I do.
This assumes that you have not patched and still only have version 200, if you have patched you will have to uninstall WL's and reinstall WL ver 200 from the CD.
1. Open windows explorer, and navigate to C:\program files\firaxis games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\
2. You should now see a folder called Warlords, right click and drag that to your destop, when you release your mouse it will give you the option of copy or move please chose copy. You now have a copy of the original ver 200 folder.
3. Click on the folder name on the desktop folder, and change it to Warlords200, hit enter to finish the change.
4. Now move(not copy) that folder back into the "Sid Meier's Civilization 4\" folder, you should now have a Warlords folder and a Warlords200 folder.
5. Now you can feel free to patch via the WL's lobby or D/L from a fan sight. Unfortunately the Firaxis installers will only patch the WL's version that was originally installed, and it has no option to change folders. Which means that it will patch the orginal Warlords folder to 208.
6. Now you can create a shortcut to the exe in the Warlords200 folder to your desktop and after renaming it warlords200 you will now have a shortcut to 200 and the original 'Launch Civ4 Warlords" shortcut will launch ver 208, you can rename that shortcut Warlords208 if you like as well.
Now your off to the races, just becareful never to enter the MP lobby with ver200 or it will want to autopatch, just use 200 for your PBEM or DirectIP MP games.
Cheers CS
For those that patched without doing this, you are gunna have to back up.
Reinstall the original Warlords. Then follow CS's instructions. I need to know when we are all ready to go again.

How can they release a huge patch and not fix PitBoss? PitBoss was one of their big selling features and after a year it still does not work. So I guess we don't have the option of starting a new game with 2.08. Our only option is to continue the existing game with unpatched versions.
Let me know when we are all ready. I have stopped the game at BC 3480 with U2 and Tony yet to play the turn.

im gonna be in Manchester until tomorrow night(late - 10:30pm GMT) Ah damm i already patched my game last night? do i have to uninstall it for this stuff to work? Because the instructions say you have to make a copy of the original, then patch it. You need to install the original Warlords. You can use the two folder technique explained by CS. My earlier instruction was in error as there has been no prior patch to Warlords. I've edited the post.

I'm not going to the lobby to patch so I'm ready to play at any time providing its direct IP.
I'll take the copy of the folders in question though to safe guard the version. Nothing like chewing up another 50 MB or whatever.
I can't believe that the vendor cannot make them backward compatible or supply a utility to convert game saves to the new version. To not do so is shameful and incompetant.
Has anyone actually tried to start a pitboss game with 208 ?
I'm shaking my head in more disgust if Firaxis hasn't fixed a known show stopper in this patch. It's not like they didn't know.
