Anyone give me any pointers what I did wrong here, I have aztec to the northeast so I need axe to combat jaguars, I have this joker to the south so I need spears, what do I do build spears and die to jags or build axe and die to horse? Answers appreciated cause I'm map screwed here with no horse and between two opponents who can use different units to kill me? Check it out, oh yeah he had bronze horse and iron by the looks of it Aztecs had iron although of course they didn't even need it, and I had bronze what do I do any pointers? This the turn before I died, he's already used alot of horse to take my second city and cut off bronze, I've lost three of my axemen and am trying to build more axe when bronze cut, can't sacrifice pop for warriors as get in one? Any advice would be appreciated? There must be something I could do here? With hindsight etc. Land to north is floodplains so I got second city there but it died because it's prod was horrendous and because axe vs horse are useless if they have superior numbers.

no need to whine with bronze in cap, get some spaers and some axe and wait till others decide its better to build up a bit as wasting units to u btw i wonder why there s a street to the cow but not to the bronze ... is there some1 using autoworker , and then complaining ?

Tommy He's cut my bronze with horse archer doesn't need roading anyway joined by river so I never bothered, the fact is if I build spear and axemen Aztec kill me, if I build axe Arabia kill me, if build spear aztec kill me if I build axe and spear arabia kill me. See what I mean, Just can't spread yourself two ways, so I do to one or the other and die anyway or both and die anyway. I'm asking if anyone can think of a way out of this situation. The land is practically grassland shield free too which doesnt help.

when u know horses coming they should not be a real threat as they get slaughterd so bad by spears
- so just 1 spear (to hold city) for every city or proly a 2nd (to control land) should be enough

And tommy how do I defend against horse and Jaguars at the same time? I think thats the point of the axemen, if a single spear attack with axe then use horse. In hindsight building 2 spears would of been in order, building another spear when the attack came in was impossible because bronze cut. I know you two like this strategy but let me just say that every civ I've started next to that has used it has died to my hand. Whether they got bronze or not, provided I've got early horse archers/chariots or Bronze myself I'll either take there city or rape the crap out of them. You'll note when I killed what's his face and think it was Nero in that game we played tommy that Nero had Bronze, I killed him second, he had 3 cities to my two and lots of workers, well untill he died that is, after killing the first guy to an early horse archer stack, he was epxnading normally and had alot of archers in a single city. he was easy meat. Trust me this may be a good strategy for the non offensive noob but you'll get totally creamed by me or anyone else with half an idea how to play. Plus you don't need all those extra cities mathematically four or five big cities will out produce 9 or 10 smaller ones, both in culture and units. LOOOL This is a really funny post, after the a fighting talk in the other thread(s) about you build this...ill kill you, you do that...ill kill you and tossing out cton challenges. ;D ;D And btw I said if I have horse, kinda do me the courtesy of reading this post and others before throwing out casual insults, notice this guy is doing precisely what I would do with horse? Christ on a bike, there are some fools out here, please refrain from comenting unless you have any advice, unfortunately I can't right click on your name and ignore you. btw last time I killed someone with horses I sent in an well promoted axeman too for the single spearman defence, that's just common sense. One axe and six horse vs 1 spear and 2 axe should win fairly comfortably. I wouldn't expect a particularly strong defense from your average builder type player. Well untill now that is With War chariots the likelihood is I would of killed both of them before they had the chance, not saying that's a certainty but Aztecs third city was poorly defended with warriors. Even in this situation I manage to take out a city of another player who had defended with a single archer, axmen with about 45% chance took it out. And then a Jag came along and took him out Still in no city raising that'll crimp the other guys score and the city doesnt count against you. In city raising game of course I would of thought twice about attacking anyone since it's usually pretty unnecessary. Although there isn't the land there to expand. Maybe three cities or 4? But too much desert, which is about average for me lately, all I get is desrt and jungle every game atm, still could be worse, I could get no early resource too? Oh know that happens 75% of the time too

best bet is to build 1 spear to every 3 axes u make. u should be doing that anyways or atleast mixing up your stacks. 1 spear will kill 3 to 4 horses easy. axes should kill jags easy. also if u where so worried about dying to jags/horses why didn't u beeline to fued and get them longbows instead of doing metal casting??? . guess u all talk and no action.

yeah that was the sort of advice I was looikng for, I think with the distance between me and aztec and Arabia I'm going to get screwed eventually anyway, but had I known when I posted this thread what I know now I wouldn't have asked the question Yeah and I was thinking the same thing when I looked at this save, why the hell was I going for metal casting? I think I changed to it and then changed of it because I would of been looking to get Feud asap with no resources, or at least I hope I wasn't that naive then? Obviously I would of been dead before then I would suspect even with building 3 axe and 1 spear I would of eventually lost the war of attrition but without playing the game again it's hard to be sure.

man you should have brung the war to them, you messed up a long time befor that picture.
Attack kill rape there landf, mess them up, do any thing the other wont like, make him mad, make him whanna kill you, he will surly do mistakes, and you can just ceep you chilled head in the water, and dream of even better days, while he/she waste there units on your traps.
dont sit back like a retarted fish , thinking the next worm that swims by with a line to it is food.
you gota make war alot faster than that, buhu i got one on each side, well kill them both then.

I was hassling people like I said I went and wandered over Aztecs land and then took out a poorly defended city of someone elses civ to the south. Prod here sucks so I couldn't really spare too much in the way of attack without giving an easy kill to the other opponent.

i don't see how your prod sucked. u had 4 hills in capt. plus a couple plains which gives u 1 hammer from that. all u have to do is farm 3 to 4 grassland tiles and build a garnary and u should be fine with food.plus u have a fish tile which should give u 4 food till u build a lighthouse in that city which will turn that fish into a 5 food tile. its not the land its how u use it plus if u would of built city on plains next to cow u would of had a good 2nd or 3rd city. u would of had cow plus rice with 2 hills there plus lake to irrigate all sqs next to it. use your land better. btw i just saw u had cows in capt under horse in top right . theres no reason to say your production sucked. u just need more workers. if u say that sucks i hate to see what u say is great land.

The city to the north was much better placed before I lost it to his horse. As for placing 3rd city, I could either build units or build 3rd city. Look at the city, how many trees are there and why is it only size 6? Answer cause even with aqueduct it wont grow beyond size 11/12. My prod sucked also because I cant put 4 people on those four tiles beacuse I need to grow too. So at any one time 1 of those mining squares could be used maybe 2 tops. And it's pretty hard to use cows when you've got horsemen sitting on them. Point is he was using horse to choke off my prod and sending in units. To be honest I could now defend this situation without bronze but that just goes to show the difference in learning from now and early January. Having no bronze in 18 out of 20 games teaches you how to defend with no metal, which is why I don't moan about it. Having poor land for about 80/90% of those games as well, now that's pissing me off ;D And by poor land I don't mean this, this is the Garden of Eden in comparrison to the land I mean. Last night I had poor land but then 75% of the 8 people playing did so that's fine by me. When you have a stinking hell hole in almost every game with no bronze remotely close, it does put a crimp in your ability to play to say the least, but the positive does outweigh the negative in that you learn how to survive with nothing. Most of all though you can pass on this information to threads like surviving with no Bronze. I can claim and probably with some justification to be the best no metal defender in the game, only time I'll get killed with no metal is in a teamer. Edit: And no that is not an open invitation to come kill me with no bronze

its called mircomanging. learn it,master it. its called switching between hammers tiles to food tiles every couple turns. if u can't grow in 1 to 3 turns switch to hills for better production. then after getting the unit u need switch to some food tile to gorw to next size. just cause food/hammers carry over it dosen't mean u can't mircomange at any given time. also when close to getting a tech in a turn lower it so u can gain some extra money for upgrades or higher longer tech reserch later.

I think your missing the point that's not what I meant, try micromanaging with horse stuck over all your best prod squares that is the point I was trying to make.
This post should be changed from OK I've obviously screwed up? to I have definitely screwed up anyway. Which is why it's a good topic for discussion.
I micromanage pretty well anyway.

what if u need a couple axes early to either defend or attack. sometimes u don't have copper close and the other guy has it in his capt from start and if you where unluckey with the early huts by just getting a scout or maps and no gold. i don't do every tech down but some i do so i can reserch the longer more berkers techs at 100%.

I like if possible to get the early techs behind me asap. But this does make sense if you're likely to be strapped for cash later. Good tip.

I was being 100 percent sincere in asking that question. I thought he was being sarcastic, like he did in a different post. In the other post he was saying that with this start he didn't have a chance to win. see-Re are there civ gods I can pray to Seemed he was trying to convey the same meaning is this post.
Fried, To put my name up there and claim I made a personal attack is just B.S.. How can I defend myself. It's the equivalent of being put in jail without a jury and then the evidence being thrown away. Next time you want to drag my name through the mud on these forums save yourself some trouble and just delete all my post and ban me for life.
Maybe there should be a locked thread heading SHAME ON YOU with all the post the admins think should be deleted. That way all members could decide for themselves who's a jerk but couldn't bicker due to the thread being locked. And once somethings in that thread it could no longer be discussed. That way admins can delete till there hearts content but members will see whats whats especially when you decide to accuse them of bashing another member in bold type. That's a personal attack on me(with no evidence to back it up). One leads by example. The example set here is if your in power your above the rules. To remedy it, I would suggest deleting your own post.
I wanted to be sure he was interested in learning(by some of his replies I'm still not sure)and not just filling this forum with more boast and complaining. A guy who thinks he is the best and writes every loose off to bad luck will never learn. If he would have said he was sincere I would be glad to look over the land and make a suggestion. I see a few obvious things he did wrong but would need to see the initial save and know his build and tech queue to determine for sure. Also knowing his unit actions would help.
Anyone who regularly reads this forum and Sidhe's many post would understand why I wouldn't be sure. He talks like he has an extensive plan for every variable and usually kills one or both his neighbors every game. I also find some of his post very sarcastic.
BTW tommy said he was whining and should hook his copper. Why didn't that get deleted? What I asked seemed no worse.

Your attack was pretty mindless and really quite offensive, Tommy's was pretty mild in comparison. This post was made in all sincerity. And as for saying that I have an alternative for every startegy, that was simply a way of provoking people into saying, yeah but what about if... But that didn't work so I abandoned the devils advocate bit. I think you should take a little time to read this thread before you make judgement. Why on Earth would I put up a thread asking for advice and say this is a good thread because it's useful to see the mistakes, if I wasn't sincere? Seems to me alot of people on this forum would do well to keep quiet sometimes instead of finding the need to slam someone, or make baseless accusations. Even after I made my motivations clear people are still hounding me, the ends justify the means though so as far as I'm concerned they can all go take a long jump off........ Lifes to short to worry about a group of pitchfork wielding peasants: now where have you heard that before. If you don't like it don't read it.
