So, I broke the rules by reporting to donny. I'm sorry. Please don't put me in the box. Are some honestly saying that a non-report against him will not be valid due to the fact the name is not the same? Now that's an interesting loophole. Maybe I'll put an extra "S" on the end of my ladder name and go for a 100 streak. It's not a loophole, if you let a player in a game and his name is not on the ladder exactly as spelled, then he's not a ladder player and you shouldn't be playing him. And no, I void any and all non-reports that are filed because of imposters. We yelled long and hard at Firaxis to give us secure login's and now that we have them in Civ4 I'm dam sure that I'm going to inforce there use. CS But, that is evidently what you are NOT doing. This Donny chap is not following the rules by playing under another name and for some reason people have been reporting to him. I'd e-mail him to tell him this won't do and reset his stats for being a cheeky bugger. Plus, I'd put Necro in the box.

All this is true but all I know is that it can be very annoying reporting to someone without the exact same name. I report to them anyway but feel that it should not be held against someone who chooses not to report to someone without exact ladder account match to game name. I mean how hard is it to have a perfect match, not causing people to first type in what they think it is, then type in clan tag, then type clan tag with symbols around it to finally get the correct ladder name sometimes. Add on top of the some ridiculous spelling or symbols in the name... ah forget it. You don't report to such cheats as they won't be getting reported against, but still collecting. If even one player hasn't the correct name, it is not a ladder game...no reports should be forthcoming.

Why is he at 100 streak when there is a screen shot of him being out scored? Because Angel did not beat Donny, but [DBC]donny and thus it was not a ladder game as that name is not on the ladder. Got to check those names and be ruthless if people trying to pull this stunt.

Until the noob starts playing Warlords he ain't going to come across any real opposition. Despite playing some 87 games in the last week his rank is something awful and he has played 73% of games against lower ranked players than himself. Now, if he was always winning and was playing teamers, then I'd be VERY impressed. I had +58 from teamers only, more than half were top teamers No you didn't, you have a 48 win streak as your longest, 2 less than me. Jeez, lying to impress Bantams...worrying.

No its not! have a look at tamjios screen shot closely. The map has been renamed so you dont a error messsge. and anyway, the problem is not with the map, it him moddifying the map, he could potentially do the same thing with TBG and rename it something very close it teambattleground. But as i said above its not really a problem, so obvious to spot. yes tony sure, but players still reported to him, so its only fair to mentione it. OK ? Heh, it is US_Patriot? Hehe, he is so god-awful at Civ4 even with 39 merchants added I think I'd take him down

3 vs 6 lol in terms of units.
I doubt a single unit from lporiginal fought your team and only 4 units of mine. Your team had spammed out plenty of units so you'd have more than the 4 (at most) civs that were up against you in reality. I don't know all that was going on in your lands, but obviously those units weren't used to best advantage for all your 'dominance'.

Lporiginal - where did you go those last turns?
A great game, though in some regards frustrating.
On my team my job as I saw it and as my team came to see it was science and later on to scout out the enemy and try so opportunist invasions - the first expedition spotting most coastal cities, harassed Lporiginal expansion (till Longhorn killed them - silly boy) and then being 1 square from taking out a city of Islandia. After that came after two things before my next expedition:
1. The first event was that Tommy invaded my team mate Willburn destroying one city. But for ICBM rushing forces in, my call to Willburn for Nationhood and to burn population for soldiers and my 4 marines Tommy would have taken Willburn out. Instead what Tommy did was to use his army to provoke us to secure his destruction whilst not having helped Slaughter.
The result? Well Slaughter was defeated by Islandia and Co and my team destroyed on of Tommys cities before he and Civer Dan took their ball home and quit.
2. My failed assault on Staxx...Staxx whose army was always bigger than mine had been harrassed alot by my forces, however when I came in to try for a kill (to get some oil which I only got VERY late on in the game) my forces messed up leaving alot of dead marines.
After the A.I Tommy left was destroyed the race was between team Islandia and our team - Longhorn and Staxx being out of it and playing very defensively.
My forces did the scouting and threatening of landings once more not doubt keeping Mark on his toes and eventually looked in again on Islandia. All this time my allies Willburn and ICBM had been building up - unlike me not burning units in constant action. We devised a plan and excuted it taking the island city of Gloucester recognised to be isolated (especially as I had killed some transports there).
After that our team was all out on Islandia threatening his whole coastline. In the end ICBM landed near Hastings a stack that sat there, Willburn near London cutting communications. Later came a land offensive on Islandia's frontier by mainly Willburn and a small contingent of my tanks (gifted to me by Willburn for defense Vs Staxx which I send back the other way Staxx being passive).
The threats to so many places and the cutting of communications to London allowed ICBM and I to unite our fleets with all their troops and go for London. ICBM did the job so my units were not needed and promptly headed for Mark.
Now things got REALLY INTERESTING as Longhorn and Staxx had developed Manhattans and were launching nukes pointlessly at Lporiginal and not following up with offensive units as far as I could tell.
As my team were in full buy our tech was behind that of Mark and Lp and they nuked up soon. The result was Staxx land and very soon Russia (my land) turned orange with fallout.
In this time Mark managed to slip past my defenses and destroy 1 city on the coast (he'd have done more if my destroyers hadn't picked off another trannie) after preparatory nuke attack.
So into the close and I landed and destroyed one of Marks cities with Marines so he was down to one AND if ICBM had landed his forces where I had told him to, he'd have taken out Mark from the game (2 city elim).
Regardless we had done enough a win, though it felt odd to win when all my cities had been nuked by Mark and also by Longhorn (WTF?!).
Great game, though long, long, long!

You think your gas is expensive our is like frigging 79p per litre here or nearly 3 pounds per gallon. Quit your winning dude ;D That's like $5.20 per gallon. And we have a mass of oil in the North sea. go figure? Anyway if the US would just stop invading Middle Eastern countries for five minutes or threatening to invade bloody Iran or whatever maybe the price'd go down ;D Bloody good job I don't drive or I'd be furious If it wasn't for the vast 60p a litre or some such nonsense tax levee on British petrol it'd be amongst the cheapest Tax something else...er, obese people for instance, tax them till they trim down and it'd make them fitter, cost the NHS less and make Britain Beautiful.

This is a very good guide for people just learning the game. I have read most of it and agree with most. I read this guide over at civfanatics and the point of it is lost on Tony and MGT. It is a generalised guide for new-comers to multiplayer to get them from being hopeless to competitive in as short a period as possible. Whilst long, your guide is easy to read and is thorough, sure it won't be optimum in many situations but that was never really going to be possible and a good thing too! Thank you for writing this guide, hopefully many new players will read it and their learning curve will be steeper.

He is 100% correct on the stupid names, though the choosing a leader is a clear sign the person isn't on the ladder and is probably also a novice to the game (I'm trying to stop using the other n words).
