I am officially announcing then next two COT events. COT event #3 will be held at 12:00pm EST on Saturday October 21st, a clone of the CCC Friday Future era 3v3 plus1.igl.net/tourney/civ4players/1045722/ COT event #4 will be held at 12:00pm EST on Sunday October 22nd, a clone of the CCC Grudge Match 3v3 Industrial era start. plus1.igl.net/tourney/civ4players/1045814/For those of you that do not already know, the COT = Clan Ongoing Tournament. COT events are just like one of the events in the previous CCC and are intended to serve as practice for clan members. The major difference is that each clan can field as many teams as they want. The CCC has a specific roster that clans submit before the event begins. The COT uses the "official" clan roster found in the clans section of this forum. If you want to change who is eligible to play for your clan, you need to keep your section of the "official" clan roster up to date. The Official clan roster can be found at civ4players.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=clans&action=display&thread=1129655568Substitutions are allowed for a COT event but you cannot substitute for more than one of your clan's teams, nor can you sub for one of your clan's teams if you played for another of your clan's teams in the same event. COT events are scored exactly the same way that CCC events are scored except the scores just keep accumulating. The current COT points totals can be found at civ4players.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=clans&action=display&thread=1159067056

I think #3 should be changed. We already had such an event in COT and noone came to it. Also, it's just a very bad map for a Future event (especially when space victory is off). Since it will be different for a next CCC, what's the reason to put it in COT once again?

I understand that this map did not make people happy. What map would you suggest?
As for why I put it in the COT, its simply because COT events are supposed to be exactly like the CCC events. I really didn't even look at what map it was. However, given that this map is not going to be used in the future CCCs, I am willing to change it to something which will be used in future CCCs.

I think the map that makes Ellestar unhappy sounds a good idea for this COT.

I am trying to run tournaments that can be used by clans as practice for the CCC. I am really not trying to run a popularity contest.
In the coming weeks, I will be running other events from the previous CCC, some of which you may consider to be more popular. I will not repeat any of the events, so once we get the unpopular events out of the way, we can move on.

I love the idea of the COTs using the rules from the last CCC. They will be great practice for the next CCC and with the ability to play multiple teams from each clan, everyone will get more practice in more eras while playing together as a team.

One of the LKT player had a message like it was using a mod due to a civ4 problem. He had installed a mod in the previous day but this MOD had a bug. Despite of the fact he has reinstalled several time, message was again here. So opposite team has asked, and got a disqualification for us. Well, I think they were in their right, but god it's just a game, don't you think it's better to play immediately one game rather waiting two hours your next adversary? On the side note, COT has no evidence link with an alliance on the gaz between French and Germany against Russia... That was the first participation to the COT for LKT, not sure that LKT will play again. Most of the LKT people think they would have more fun in other games with no such petulant players. Well, we will see, I think that COT is a good idea, so we may make another try chris.

out of curiousity - why would you do in a tourney game if one of the opposing team members had a mod with a bug in it?

The bug was he had a message about the civ version, he had uninstalled the MOD. Hoewever it had not other side effects. He had played several games with this message before.
If I had the intention to cheat at civ4, I'm almost sure that nobody will see anything MMV. You don't know me, so you can assume it's bragging from me if you want.
Anyway, I don't deny the fact that our disqualification was injustified.

It can't be a normal mod because mods have the same directory tree (similar to a game data directory tree) but in a specific mods directory. If some file exists in a mod, it will replace the original civ 4 file in the same directory (during loading), of course only if you used an option "load a mod". So, that situation may happen only if some ret arded mod developer modifies original Civ 4 files instead of a copies of them in a specific mods directory. I suggest you to reinstall Civ 4 and i suggest you not to use mods of that ret ard. I think it's obvious that reinstalling a mod doesn't help because it just rewrites already modified game files once again with the same (modified) versions. To get original game files, you need to reinstall Civ 4 (and Warlords). P.S. (just a thought) Of course, i may say that there are some problems in a tournaments with French players once again... But i imagine their cries about that neutral statement so i think i'll refrain from saying it Of course, all French players are perfeclty fine and we have no problems with them, exactly as they say here on forums ;D

Well I for one wouldnt play in a game with anyone with the version dosnt match message so yes I would either insist they reinstall civ to get rid of the message or Leave the staging room and find a suitable sub

Oh well part of playing ladder games is respect of sportmanship of others. I d have 0 problem to play with a LKT guys having a bugged message as I know that they play fair. That d be a very dumb way of cheating to let others know before game that u do it.
But then i see a reason for others who havent played LKT guys as often as i did to not play a tourney game with some1 having proly a mod installed

Ellestar: Reinstalled has made nothing, finally he gets it by removing manually some directories. However it was too late. You may subscribe to the civfr ladder Ellestar, and you will see that sometime we sucessfully finish a game, let's say one game is finished every year ;D Thanks you Tommy, you are a great player chris.
