Is there a way to cheat by modifying game files?
If you gave all your units a visibility of 1000 and made resources always visible that might not cause the game to go OOS (visibility is client side only) and could be a great advantage. Personally i wouldn't be willing to trust modded player just in case this works.

Yes there is NOGN, which is why we made sure that all players got the "modified game files" message when the 1.61 patch came out. It's not that I don't trust the LKT players that is irrelavent, I would not allow any player to play that entered with that, it's just a pandora's box that I want to avoid opening. If that was a real mod problem I would avoid mods from that programmer until he learns to mod Civ4 properly. Proper mods do not cause that error message in normal Civ4 games.

Like I had previously said, I understand your position CS, it's quite normal for the organizers to prohibit that. If I had judged that, I would have do the same thing However as a player, my team wouldn't have complained at the TD. chris.

As the TD that had to make a ruling, it was really a simple decision. I can't possibly know all the ways someone could cheat in civ, but when someone has the "mod" tag by their name, I have no choice but to assume they are up to something. I am sorry if anyone found this unfair, but if I had ruled that it was ok for one player to play with the "mod" tag, then I would have to let everyone do it and that is simply not acceptable.
