Church your examples are not that unlikely, i mean if stuff like that never occured then why have a rng at all?
What your suggesting in automatically just make the stronger unit win!
I think the randoness is too little as it is, i mean most games are played on premade maps where you know where the enermy is, ie TBG and inland-sea. This makes every game the same as the last, archers have to be buffed up a little to make maps like pangea possible IMO.
But in certian situations more unfairness is needed IMO, like future, they have tried so hard to make it fair its unbeliveably dull, future and elim should never ever ever be in the same senctance

What your suggesting in automatically just make the stronger unit win! yes i realise these examples are possible. may be 10%. i think it is possible to work these things out. ellestar is the man on these things. i think u am still justified in saying i am unlucky. at least i dont go around saying: "bull nuts, this is bulnuts, how can this be happening to ME? how can i be unlucky on rng? how can i be the one without the resource?" And i actually didn't suggest anything at all!

My opponent had 3 unupgraded archers fortified in a hill city with 60% defence. I brought 8 axemen, 5 were combat2 + cover, the other 3 where combat2 + shock. I attacked and all 8 axemen died without killing a single archer.

I had a full health cossak lose to an injured cavalry a few weeks ago - 100% chance of victory (interesting because this is the first instance where I had 100% odds without first strike involved).

Recently in an industrial game TheVindicator send 4 calvs into my civ. My front cities were too well fortified so he went around further deep into my territory, he was heading towards my cap which only had 1 rifleman and I knew this was problematic so I chased it with some units and killed two of the calvs but by then they were right next to my cap. I used gold to rush the cannon I was building there thinking there was no way that a combat2 calvary would kill a combat1 rifle in a city with 60%cultural defence hence the cannon would keep me alive if I failed out quick move. He quick moved and razed my cap! He said the odds were 10% which isn't that horrible I guess but man was I PO'ed.

How about losing 5 musketeers in the beginning of the game...all of which you had good odds (above 75%) which costs you the game. Sure it's fine when the RNG f*cks you over but in a 6v6 where it screws your whole team I think it's ridiculous.
IMO, luck plays way too much a role in Civ. I've always been a gambler...but when I'm dealt 3 aces....go all in and lose....it's just ridiculous. One of the few reasons I hate civ.

That was totally an infantry LP. No it wasn't dude I quick moved the calv and saw very clearly the words 'your calvary has died attacking a catapult' which is why the cat had .6 health and then he moved an infantry which i attacked with two more calvs, the first calv died and the second one killed the infantry.

Nah, you could nuke us without SDI only 1 turn... the turn you made Manhattan, Gogf launched SDI (done in 2 turns).
His SDI was incredibly weak... usually it stops all nukes but 2. In that game, all went through but 2 ;D

I lost a 99.1% battle today. It was a 2 star Knight vs. an unpromoted Longbow in the open ground. Oh well .

In the OCC 2v2 final this weekend Bonsai got lucky as all hell and killed me because of it. I lost 4 75%+ battles in a row. One was a level 6 axe (3 combat upgrades a melee upgrade and an archer upgrade) vs a level 2 axe(combat 1 upgrade). I was like 90% to win that. That whole game I was losing battles with the odds onmy side. It was rediculous. Tommy's bitching about ..A.. getting lucky in the grudgematch final has got nothing on this.

That's what happens Rupman when you treat your elite units like grunts. Your superstars want special treatment. If you use them like grunts, they'll die like grunts.
