Ladder Home Page State: "Our members are Civ fans who agree to play fairly, respect others, and abide by the rules. This is the place where you can literally play the best in the world anytime of the day or night. "
Yesterday (11/5/2006), I joined a game named "Ladder Teamer". After a long wait, MissLadyLuck joined. He/She shows NO respect to lower ranking members and use bad words (slowed) on them. He/She made the host kick out first low rank memeber. Then he/she made the host to kick me with words like, "win 10% of time". The host resisted initially, saying kicking out 1 is enough for 1 day; but MissLadyLuck insisted and I was kicked after a very long wait.
Is this the norm of Ladder players? Is Ladder an organization where low rank memebers (I ranked 70 at that time) are slowed and can be kick out off game at will?
If so, Ladder need to be splitted into several sections, high ranking section and "slowed" section.
Your thought please?

I forgot. But the host did not want to kick so it is not his fault. Thanks.

Play more ctons! Once you become a stable cton player (good estimate would be 10-20 ctons) there will usually be a spot for you in the teamers, where you really start to learn things. This is a process, so you better get use to it. It is no fun for the better players playing teamers with people who just roll and die after 15 turns.

Play teamers with other players, the fact that the iron lady, and a few others is a little rough on everyone with a win % below 60, does not mean that y should not play teamers. These days teamers are played on every level, and it IS very diffrent from playing CTON's, but it might be a good idear to stay avay from teamers with only highskilled players, unless y are invited.

High ranking members obviously have a lot influence power.
It would be nice if they can use their power to advance ladder’s agenda:
"Our members are Civ fans who agree to play fairly, respect others, and abide by the rules. This is the place where you can literally play the best in the world anytime of the day or night. "
I actually think this problem can be solved very easily, just specify it in the game title:
Ladder Teamer, rank <50; or
Ladder Teamer, rank <20.
Then we will not join the high ranking game.

The situation is a little unsual, as most Highlevel teamer are infact password protected so you wont even get in there. But as Lestat says it is a violation to ladder rules, but its hard to prove it, the easy way is to put the "bad people" on your HATE list, if everyone did that, they could not play. But i doubt that will happen, as most players are "rankwhooores" somewhere deep inside.
The hard way is to take screenshots, and email CS or other admin., so that they decide what to do about it.
NB.: Personaly i couldent care less, if HE/SHE play's with me or not.

>> Personaly i couldent care less, if HE/SHE play's with me or not. << Way to go.
This was my first encounter with him. May all of us learn:
"Our members are Civ fans who agree to play fairly, RESPECT others, and abide by the rules. "

Rank is rank, it stinks. I find most judge players by what they know of them not by the stats the show. I reset my stats, went into the day 20-2, played several team games all day and came ouot with a 23-25 record. The one thing that made it all worth while was watching MLL die off, both cities in same turn to same player early(very early) game... well we conceded and started a new game... with a somewhat different crew. BTW- it was all 'our' fault for his untimely death. Some games areally are fun

First, no matter what anyone thinks of MLL, it is not proper to call him out in a public forum such as this. We could very easily be having this conversation without throwing him under the bus. I've said it before and I'll say it again -- I am sick and tired of the public flogging of ladder members, inside and outside of games. If you have a problem with someone, bring it up to them in private and try to resolve it. If you can't, take it to the admins in private. The forums, the lobby, staging rooms, and in-game chat are not the places to be talking crap about people.
Second, why even have this conversation? There are already 100+ threads about this topic.
Third, if we're going to have this conversation again, my two cents:
If you're a new player, you're not going to get to play in most passworded teamers. It's just a fact of the ladder. Rank has nothing to do with it -- it's a familiarity with the players involved in hopes that two relatively even teams can be created while at the same time the players in the game are skilled enough not to die in the first 10-15 turns. What fun is it to jump into a game with someone that nobody else knows, only to watch them have no clue about even the most basic gameplay?
What others have suggested is the proper course of action -- play the games you can. Ctons are the best place to start -- you will familiarize yourself with the nuances of ladder play while beginning to accumulate stats. Unpassworded teamers are good too -- you will have the chance to pick up on common teamer strategy and introduce yourself to other ladder players. After awhile, when you ask into a game and someone checks your stats, if you have around 100 reports under your belt and a 60% + win rate you'll get a chance to play. It may suck, but one day when some dude you've never heard of costs you 5 reports because he dies 10 turns into the game, you'll understand.

Stop trying to excuse MLL's behavior. The original poster joined a game (either it was not passworded or the host gave it to him). This isn't about a noob getting into an elite game- the host didn't mind that he was there.
If MLL wants to start an "elite" teamer, he should host it himself, not barge into another hosts' game and order the host to kick people out.
