First Ironman final for me. It was a very existing game until cruise decided to invad my small land. Hub map wasn't the best choise Thanks to him to let us survive so far in the game. I have learned much than ever by being his direct neighbour.

Any chance Sunday finals could start few hours earlier? I played in our medi team. Our team made it too the last round but I couldn't play the final game since that would have meant being up until about 4-5 AM, that is 2-3 hours of sleep before working Monday morning. sucked Even starting the events 2 hours earlier would be make it more reasonable. Or we could use blazing timer but for some reason lots of people seem to object that or make games say 100 turns but not sure if that is a good idea either... easiest would be just start a bit earlier (that famously promised 24 hours of playing)

Well for 8-9 events. Clans should probably get min 14 good players. It is a team game. If not 4 buddies could win it all That is the stuff of normal tourneys but CCC is a war of bigger armies.

minimum 14 players?
Just out of curiousity, which clan had the most players participate in this CCC and what was the number of players that participated for that clan in this CCC?

I believe there were several clans at the 20 maximum cap, weren't there? At least two... That doesn't mean they played. The way the system is built up you better sign up EVERYONE, even if they havent played for 2 months, should they come back ccc weekend they can still play, if they are listed they can play, if not then they can't... Silly? naturally...

but should a clan have to recruit people purely because they need numbers for the CCC - i thought clans were about more than that and 20 players in a clan will never be the close knit team 8-10 is

Yes, I know what clans were registered (and which clan won) and how many member from each clan were listed (in the clan sign up portion of the CCC thread) -
but moreover (and as stated), which clan had the highest number of participants in this CCC and what was the number?
I ask because avo stated 14 would be a good number and I don't think any clan had that number of participants in this CCC.

Well I know The Illuminati used at least 14 players, possibly one or two more as substitutes. But I'm sure the following played at least once: Cobra, Craigbob, Fried, Islandia, lporiginalg, Onan, Robert, SirPartyMan, Srayman, Sullla, Trayk, Vermillion, WarningU2, and xma.
Best, SPM

but should a clan have to recruit people purely because they need numbers for the CCC - i thought clans were about more than that and 20 players in a clan will never be the close knit team 8-10 is Having been around for all of the CCC's, let me say that it's always been that way. The format favors the "longest and strongest". My observation is that SPM designs the format with two goals in mind: good competiion and maximum participation. This combination affords the opportunity for many players to experience the fun of the competition. I think it is "right-sized" for our community membership. A format that allowed clans to win it with just a handful of very good players would be far less of a "community" event. BTW, no reason a clan of 20 can't be close knit.

GC had fewer than Avo's off-the-cuff recommendation actually play this time out, due to one last minute problem for one of our players (Nero), and because some other clan members who usually play faithfully in our CCC's (Civ3) haven't got CIV4 yet (e.g., Bbarronn, Maxfin, among others of course--I mention these two by name as ones who have indicated they will probably begin playing CIV4 soon). And Whiplash, too, who as we all read has the game but is apparently cursed by computer gods, will surely turn out for coming CCC's with his (comi-tragic) issues resolved. So this time out, actually playing, we were: Uni, Trini, Reptile, Snowmonkey, Sdn (now known as Nietzsche), Donkey, Dracs, Zaxxon, Clondike, Avogadro, and me, Philophobic. That is eleven, by my count. So you don't really need to be a huge clan to be successful. If you consider the players I mentioned above, though, Avo's estimate of 14 sounds about right to me (ideal even)--for future CCCs I hope. A nice number to make it even more comraderly and comfortable to play.

wow talked about overworked And you did great too, you have certainly turned into a very formidable civ4 opponent. But personally I dont think 1-2 players should be in a position to accumulate all the points for their clan. A strong balanced team should win. Not 4-5 guys. 4-5 guys should win tourneys and single championships. I mean let's say you had a guy thet never, and I mean never loses. He picks up 32 points on his own and his team wins?

He picks up 32 points on his own and his team wins? not possible with the current "play-off sunday" having three team games starting one hour apart.

What i don't understand is that it's set up this way 8 players are needed at one particular time. There were only 3 clans that could play all events. Sunday 5,6 and 7 clans were playing the 3 events where they were allowed to play all 8.
The game is just new. Not all clans have transferred to civ4 totally yet. You can't expect clans to be this big already. Getting 8 players to play at the same time is just asking too much.
