Back to the topic before..In my ironman prelim two sets of players were 7 tiles from each other on a small map. As I was aztec and didnt start with warrior, I had to take my working tile off my food special for a couple turns just so egypt wouldnt walk into my city. As fried said, those kind of starts are more determined by luck than skill. IMHO, no player should ever have to micromanage like that in the first few turns just to stay alive (hurting you own growth in the process). I didnt ask for redo because it was >5 squares of seperation and I could actually get my warrior built in time (by 1 turn).
This gets into the larger question of how close is grounds for a redo in ancient start. As of now its only any time a person cannot built a unit in their capital before an opposing unit can take it.
As fried said before, certain maps are less prey to this (i.e. inland sea).

Sorry serpent. The ironman is good for us this year, it doesn't want to be any later for us...it's tomorrow now and still going. Get some euro's in your clan

Suggestion: Host the Ironman Finals at a more logical and reasonable time next time for clans that do not have members in Europe, 7 AM EST is too early. Sorry Serp, This is C4P a world wide community, we run tourneis for all time zones. So either recruit members in the correct time zone, or adjust your sleeping habits for the weekend. CCC XXIII will be held November 18-20th (Friday thru Sunday) on a new International schedule (gameplay 24 hours around the clock). Tho the dates have been changed, it is still an International schedule. Adjust to it. DTA

I almost actually like the old schedule better, 4am to play future... All the rest are pretty much the same +/- 1 hour or so.

9-10 Am woulda been fine, I am our only EST timed zone person in our clan, and even I had a hard time waking up at 9 am, the person who was suppose to do the finals for us woulda had to get up at 4 am, so we missed it from lack of European players, so apparently the way it is now, dont make it to the finals unless you have European players or American players that never sleep. Don't whine about times.... future event was at 4am european time. Friday events start at night for us too.

i cannot believe an american is complaining about event times this is a world wide tourney with world wide times that manages to have a nice long period through the american night and early morning when no events start

well lets face it, the c3c points not dieing was a bs rule hehe you sound bitter from a certain CCC qc event a while back... actually i fought for points die with player a lot but being from europe my plea's went unheard instead, building na nutsload of empty cities and dieing was deemed to be of some value i am most pleased with the improvement in scoring in CIV

I suggest no more "great plains" map. In a 3v3 teamer ancient event, one of our players started in center of map without even 1 single forest tile. We all know how important the chop can be. The second the game loaded we knew we were dead.

The settings for the IronMan want reviewing the Hub map we played on was way to big and the settings were more like the ones I would choose for a full cton.
I would maybe suggest a random map or maybe even an Ice Age.
With no tech trading and most certainly raging barbs.

Ring was good map for ren, aswell 2 vs 2 on small team battlefield,
I guess hub for ironman favours building a bit too much - as even if u kill some1 its hard and risky to settle on his land, i d suggest something like inland sea or ring or even wheel where its more useful to fight as u gain close land.
This ironman was all about hope for not being attcked by cruise

actually, its pretty easy to settle someones land if u kill them by keeping the cities
i had 3 hubs and best part of 4th by the end

I played the IronMan for around 10 hours and I certainly hadnt met cruise in the first 5 of them and it could even have been closer to 8 hours before I met him. The map was way to big and the settings were all wrong one of the reasons we had to reload once was because it was insisted upon leaving take over AI off.
