A question about the WCC:
How big will the events be? With respect to how many players do you need to participate in all events?
I anticipate and hope it will be a lot less than for the last civ3 CCC.

Thanks for the personal attack Fried, thought you were above stuff like that. Wasn't necessary to make your point, unless that was your point.

The Ladder Admin Board has decided to reschedule the first CIV4 CCC for two weeks later than originally planned, in order to:
a) give time for the patch to be released b) give extra time for everyone to practice and organize their clans c) be fair to those countries that received the new game later than North America did.
CCC XXIII - the first to be played with CIV IV will be held December 2-4th.
And yes there will be slightly fewer events that the CCC usually has since the game is new. It will expand over time.
Best, SPM

Although I bet he does not believe he is a mere mortal. Anyway on to the point. Swissy I have played a lot of games with you bud and in many of those game while you were complaining about the lag you were missing the fact that you were causing the lag. Sorry dont want to get you mad at me but it is the truth.

So, if I may ask, why will the CCC go back to using C3C after the first one using CIV? Is the plan to alternate them, so each game only has a CCC every two months? Just wondering what gives. Thanks.
I guess that kinda makes sense, in terms of the manpower involved. There's only one set of admins and TDs after all. Another reason to hope everyone still playing c3c upgrades soon so we can leave it in the past, as many of us already have.

Above stuff like that, the honorable Swissy? Hey, he can speak for himself. Just check the daily results, search for players Onan and Cobra, and you'll see his gracious comments. But do it this week.

I'm not sure if this is a magic fix, but I've encountered players whose game was lagging, and they changed their graphic settings to medium (from the default high option--this is from the options menu, press esc and option, or ctrl-o), and then rejoined, and they said it was much better. I did the same myself, and I have not encountered lag since then. Hopefully it's as simple as that--that folks with slower machines just need to optimize their settings a bit.

SPM, if were delaying ccc til december, why not just have the noevmber in civ3 and the one in decmeber with civ4? that prevernts one long gap with no ccc.

Until new scenarios are created for civ4, we have enough variations available for a CCC with civ 4, once enough people have the game. I personally have had much less trouble than I have ever had with Civ 3.
Some thoughts on options: Maps such as islands are more playable now. Blocking the coastline is no longer possible. I have yet to play in a large (>8 player) game so I do not yet know how smooth those run. Hopefully they can run smoothly so we can have a wider variety of team matches. 6v6 anyone?. It is also much easier to get farther into the game than in Civ 3. Longbows and elephants I have already seen muplitle times in 100 turn games. Playing "Full" games on the faster/shorter settings are quite feasible, and maybe as important, it doesnt "feel" like QC from Civ3. That is the character of the game doesnt change.

why returning to civ3 anyway - sry it was a great game while it lasted but now we have CIV4 - any need to do a CCC for civ3 - i don`t think so.
looking forward to the first one with CIV4 ;D

Well, there you go. I never would've guessed, since they're pretty much always in the finals.
