Just purchased tonight (in canada at eb games - they received their shipment today). Initially wouldn't install from autorun ... did nothing. The install readme exit came up ... i hit install but nadah ... just sat there. I shutdown and rebooted and it took forever for windows xp to end. I ran the install from the setup.exe next and it was fine.
I played a few turns in SP mode and find the graphics a little cleaner ... easier to see text ... and the game seems to play a little swifter ... maybe just my mind. I had to set my screen resolution ... man I wish it prompted you to do this for the ini file and I had to put it in windows mode ... again the game should prompt you for this at install.
Initial impression ... I like it so far. Lots of exploring to do.
Surprised with this GameSpy Comrade ... its a chat without the lobby which I guess is handy. Who is online when I got there Nolan ... ah warms the thingyals of your heart.

Haven't been around much except in a few pitboss games, but I have some questions on the new expansion that perhaps some people that participated in the beta may be able to answer. 1) I get the impression that many people are not in favour of the new expansion. Does this mean that the ladder will not be supporting it? What are the plans for the league here? 2) Will the new game mean that old games pbem/pitboss games in progress will stop functioning if you install it? Will we have to have two installs (old version) and new expansion pack to play existing pitboss/pbem or will the new expansion be backwards compatible? 3) Does anyone know here that participated in this beta whether pitboss and pbem were tested extensively or at all? Will they function with the new expansion? 4) Given the preference for sp in civ4 expansions is realtime mp still viable? It seems that unblalanced civs and traits will make this game a nightmare of excluded civs and leaders. I can see the game setup discussions now. Are the ladder admins going to post any rules excluding certain MP Civ choices? 5) I'm assuming with the new expansion it will have its own lobby with gamespy acting as host. Has the relationship with gamespy improved so that it will be hosted by gamespy's system like the old civ3-conquests games?

I'd love to participate in this ... have to get the Warlords pack first though but I wish you luck and hope it plays out.

Didn't know you were looking for me ... the bookmark feature doesn't appear to work by sending you an email. If you ever need a sub for this game just email at warningu2_2004@yahoo.com

I'd like in if there is room I'll email the players directly my address and server. It is generally not a good idea to post your email address and your email's server in a public forum - spammers and hackers just love that and you are asking for trouble. Time Zone: Eastern Standard Time (-5 GMT) I normally will play my turn in the evening at around 11 pm before going to bed.

Not sure why everything is blacked out ?
I'd suggest in future pitboss games that the game is not ended after any victory and allowed to continue so each player has a chance to log in and see the final stats.
Not that I doubt the stats... or Stin's win ... it's just that otherwise there is a potential for abuse by less honourable players.
I don't remember Conquistador so high ... I'm assuming that is the result of war somewhere ?
I'll report now.
Good Game folks ... Thank you Peter for hosting.

Well it appears that if you patch you cannot play anymore unless you create two versions. Some folks in this game have already done so.
I'm quite willing to continue to play. I haven't patched yet and since I don't play realtime MP it doesn't bother me.
From what I've been reading the v208 patch has the original issue again with the wrong windows version so we are waiting on non firaxis folks to update the pitboss fix if we want to play any v208 pitboss games.

News Flash ... 1500 AD Teleportation is Invented ! WTF. Something weird is happening. I'm sitting next to an Ottoman city and then I'm in the middle of no where ? How did this happen ? It appears I am no longer at war. So I presume I am sent to the only piece of land that is neutral. Very odd. I didn't accept a peace treaty.

From CS ... "They are late game benchmarks so alot happens between them. I would recommend using 1000BC, 1AD, 1000AD as your first 3 BM, and from then on use the normal ones, when I wrote te orginal post I didn't realize how slow the early game is in a normal epic."
So thats the answer ... alot happens. I'm not sure I agree with only 50 years between 1900 and 1950 but since you are spouting that I have no right to question it because it was stated earlier I'll shut up now.

I don' think we have to ask CS about the benchmarks ... they are a suggestion. I think we should discuss them as a group and decide if they are valid. If the others agree then I have no qualms about reporting ... I personally don't care if I report once twice or a hundred times ... I just thought it odd that there is so little time between the couple of benchmarks. Do none of the other players think the same ?

I can't find KC-Stin, Stin, or [KC]Stin. Although I do see a stinciv. Who should I report to ? Is KC-Stin still on the ladder ?

I'm good with whatever you decide.
If there is still an opening please sign me up.
But if MSN is a requirement to play ... I'm sorry I will not install that piece of crap on my machine. I've had to work far too hard to remove it, in it's entirety and keep its spying ways off my pc.
