I've done some searching on the forums, as well as reading the manual, and haven't yet found any comments that have been useful in telling me what kind of ping times are acceptable for MP Civ IV games.
Since I'm in Africa (South Africa to be precise), my connection cannot really be compared to anything other people are likely to be using: I have a dial-up 64K Isdn connection. with this kind of connection, is MP going to be possible (how much info is really being sent?), and if it is going to be possible, what kind of ping times should I be looking for, before I join a game?
In the past I've been able to play online games, for example, Neverwinter Nights - I am hoping Civ IV will be the same.
TIA

The only way to tell is for you to try a MP game, we have successfully tested 56K dialup modems with success, so I imagine a 64K ISDN line would be atleast that good, you might have problems with being so far from european and north american players, but I imagine that you should be able to play in smaller games 4-6 people.

Thanks for the response CanuckSoldier! Any comment on ping times? I've seen up to about 2500. I don't want to have an impact on the other players by being too s-l-o-w .... Well, I'm off to read some MP articles, and then I'll try my hand at it... CiaO

Well 2.5 sec lag would be a bit much, I'd try hosts that are under 500ms to you.
