Hit this today in a cton, thought it was pretty good. I won in the end by a huge margin. Anyone hit better starting locations?

Looks like a Great Plains map; cow-intensive starts are pretty common there. If not, I need to go talk to Soren about a map generator problem.

Did they poop iron and copper you lucky dog? Or did you get some horses to manage all that cattle?
I'd have like to see another screenshot after bronze ironworking and animal husbandry discovered.

I have seen two starts in teamers where a player had 3 marble in cap. One was inland sea start where Mark Weston had 3 plain marble and 3 food bonus in cap. I had a TB start with 2 plain marble, 1 plain hill marble, plain stone, and a plain hill sheep.

Great plains seems to have cow massing alot. Its a really imbalanced map in general. You can either start in cow country, in the middle of forests, or you can get unlucky and get gobs of jungles or gobs of hills. Balance would be glorious .

i heard about something like this occuring in the same game someone had six horses someone else had six iron and so on, it was a random bug in the games map generator and the game was scrapped.

I assume its the map generator compensating for the usually bad starting positions for the great plains map type. I once played a occ on great plains with exactly 2 flat squares for my capital: a floodplains and a fur plains. Everything else was hills. Late game when i researched physics - i had 4 uranium in city borders. When i researched industrialism i had 5 aluminium . Bloody useless to me early on - still won tho

Bloody useless to me early on - still won tho Great plains is designed like that, it's a good team map, but not good for a cton/ffa. If you start on the plains you get great growth and a bison(cow) start and likely horses not too far, but few metals and not great production. If you start near the mountains you'll have more metals and better production but slower growth. It's not a map generation problem it's a custom map that can be fun in certain games. CS
