This is a related to the messages posted under civ4players.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=ccc&action=display&thread=1175465507.
At least I want to defend myself against the accusations. That is why I am posting this here.
Let me just lay out the facts for this “game”:
• Game Spy was down which delayed the CCC games for a couple of hours on Sunday.
• After GS got back up, SD2R played MUD and we won that game.
• After the MUD game was over, I hosted the FUN vs SD2R OCC 2v2 semifinal in the GS lobby. Besides myself, Zoolander and Locouf were in that game and we were waiting for yohan to join us.
• We waited for about 30 minutes and were told that yohan was unable to connect to the GameSpy lobby while other games in the lobby continued normally. Another player for FUN was apparently not available at the time. Yohan was not on c4f either during any time we tried to get this game going.
• We continued to wait and at some point were told to directly connect to an IP address. We tried to connect to the IP address without success. The IP address was unreachable.
• We went back into the GS lobby and waited again and told Locouf that we have limited time due to the GS outage and the delay because of Yohan’s unavailability. After playing for almost three days straight, both Zoolander and I had other commitments in real life we needed to take care of.
• At some point, Locouf talked us into downloading and installing Hamachi. After we installed it, we were not able to connect to the IP address given to us. A while later it worked for whatever reason and we were able to connect to the IP address.
• After about 1.5 hours from when I originally hosted the SD2R vs FUN game, we were able to get started. Unfortunately, we were out of time because of the delays as Zoolander was receiving guests from out of town that moment. As earlier with FUN, we had no sub available at the time.
• At the time, we paused the game, see screenshots above, talked to CanuckSoldier who then decided that - given the circumstances - this game should be rehosted as several other games.
Everyone can come to their own conclusion. But calling people cheaters in public after letting them wait for almost two hours is quite out of line. The ironic thing is that none of FUN's problems were actually mentioned above. So, I am not sure what the point of this is, in particular, considering that the ladder admins had ruled about this already before we left the game.
The statement above that we quit the game because we did not have the right resources is also made up. (How do you know anyway after three turns?) In any case, I would be happy to re-start the game with the last save.
The only mistake SD2R made in my opinion was giving in to not hosting the game properly. I certainly have learnt from that experience and will simply say “no” in the future in situations like this one.
Canuck, let me just add to your comment that FUN would have been disqualified under normal circumstances, since they did not have two players available in the GS lobby. If you want to give this game to FUN for whatever reason, I am fine with that. I just don't understand how some people make such a mess from this, in particular, when they are a large part of the problem.
