I guess I was referring to the use of "sportman" as somebody who would rather earn their points then complain about somebody who is 30 seconds late.
I should have used the words: Sympathetic, Fair, and Friendly.

football - OFFSIDE'S PENALTY - oh wait, he was in a hurry; let's be "sportsman" and ignore it basketball - PERSONAL FOUL - oh wait, he didn't really mean it; let's be "sportsman" and ignore it tennis - DOUBLE FAULT - well it SHOULD have gone over, so we'll give him a third serve out of "sportsman-ship" baseball - LONG LEFT FIELD... FOUL - oh that was close - let's give it to him for sportsmanship. anyone who uses the excuse of "sportsmanship" for not following the rules isn't a sportsman. Perhaps a better and actually relevant example would be: Mookie, Metallian, and I wait for 5 hours for MDR to finish their first round game, while we have "fortunately" earned a bye. During those 5 hours, we suffer extreme boredom, and my F5 key goes on strike against me. After MDR finally wins on points, a very tired and spent Matth asks if we could give him 15 or 20 minutes to get a drink, smoke a cigarette, get a snack, etc. Maybe he wants to clear his head. Maybe he needs to find a sub. Maybe I don't care or know what he needs to do. Sportsmanship is saying "no problem." MMV would say "get in staging within 10 minutes or forfeit." Me, I'd rather play a fun game against MDR and earn my points. Despite all the waiting I have done in CCC, I have never, will never, and would never call for a forfeit due to being over time (unless of course there was no member of the offending team/clan in the lobby, on C4F, or on YIM and they were very late without a word).

Sorry, but whatever you want to call it, if Juni asks me for 10 extra minutes while he tries to find his missing player or a sub, I'm going to give it to him. CORRECTO! there's a big difference between "exception and agreement" between 2 teams and when a ladder TD has to get involved because one of the teams is whining.

No speaker, I wouldn't say get in there within 10 minutes or else as you suggested. I WOULD say that the Head Admin and/or the TD's makes the rules for the events and the rules are (for EVERY CCC)... from - civ4players.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=ccc&action=display&thread=1174622660&page=1I didn't - don't make that rule (or any other) I just try to be a good ladder sportsman and follow it. go argue with them - but then again, "they've" already posted that "they" are going to be more strict about it. I DO agree that once the teams are registered and the event is seeded, that if two specific teams seeded against each other want to wait a bit before starting, that would be up to them because it only affects them

IMO those rules are only there as a guideline. The only reason it is an issue is because some people have 0 tolerance or sympathy at all and just can not wait. The amusing part of it is that usually, the people complaining about somebody being a couple minutes late and raising hell in the lobby, will be late the next day and would most likely cry bloody murder if they were DQ'd.

We delayed 12 mins waiting for the last team. I was not updated after starting time. If there was a request in the flood of lobby messages, evidently I missed them. Please contact the TD directly.
Launching the tournament is different than making everyone launch their individual games.
What everyone should remember, and what was noted last CCC is that one must contact the TD, not just post in the lobby where there are floods of messages. A tournament director typically has more than 15 windows open at the same time for each event. If you contact the TD directly, identify your clan, tell them clearly what is going on, then the results you need will be addressed.
CONTACT the TD!! I was not aware of waiting for one hour! Be clear in telling the situation. OS did not get a one hour extension. Not to my knowledge.
Please identify your clan and the event you are referring to when you contact the TD.
Did I mention to contact the TD and be clear about the event, your clan and whats happening. TDs are not psycic.
