You have tie breakers for who makes the final eight and for other situations. It is no different here. There could easily be set up a system for determining who gets placed where way before the tourney starts. In fact you would have a bracket to go off of 6 weeks in advance. When a seeded clan doesn't field a team, then everyone moves up one spot from the position they were in before.
FOr noob clans you would have to start out at the bottom. That is totally fair. An expansion team doesn't come out and win the championship in the first season it plays.
Yes we are essentially rewarding someone for what they've done in the past. So what?! The first game of a baseball, football, basketball or any other sports regular season matters just as much as the last game. It detemines who gets placed where. Then in the playoffs the strongest team faces the weakest team. They are rewarded for doing something that they did in the past. It happens all the time. It is completely fair. what other prize does a clan get besides bragging rights and a few worthless ladderbux. They've earned the right to a seed.
If the event changes then you could not use the last CCC's results and it would default to random seeding.
Serious dude with every post you make I lose respect for your opinion. Every problem you mention is easily solved.
I know that's why only 2 clans have won it and only one other(that being RaY) has a real shot at it. Maybe when 2 or 3 clans win it I will read your posts again, but that will likely not happen for at least 6th months under the current system and the current clan rosters.

Maybe when 2 or 3 clans win it I will read your posts again, but that will likely not happen for at least 6th months under the current system and the current clan rosters. ************** 1) I cant solve a problem of an awful idea. 2) Using your analogy- We have NO regular season, all we have is the playoffs. It matters not 1 bit if the Yankees won the last world series as to their chance to win the next one. 3) Often scratches are at the very last minute. NO you do not know 6 weeks in advance that player ###, %%% and *** will not show up to an event. You may know 30 seconds before the start of the event if you are lucky. 4) [TX] took 3rd or 4th place their very first CCC, and moved up even higher the next one (their 2nd). RaY rapidly rose the charts as well. Your system would ensure that could not happen. My how fun for newer clans to try a CCC and always have to face the best of the best in round 1-- that would sure be encouraging! 5) My last post on this topic. Seeding the CCC will ruin it! Plain and simple! I know I would lose interest, as would many clans who are playing for fun, and trying to be competitive at the same time. And come on- like you ever respected me. The fact we have differing opinions, albeit strong ones on this topic, doesnt change my respect level for anyone. I see your point. You don't want a fraction of a possibility that your favorite clans will meet in the early rounds, and are willing to throw new and less 'win at all costs' clans under the bus to ensure it. Not to mention spoon feed MDR and RaY or MUD to the championship every time. They are good enough, they don't need a crutch to repeat their winning ways. Finis -lh

You could have qualifying matches every weekend. There is a ladder tourney or 2 every weekend. You could use those to help determine who's where.
RaY rapidly rose the charts because they picked up several top players from the Illuminati when they disbanded. I already mentioned that.
I actually did respect you before you started noobing up this thread. You are crap on the front though.

Let's not go changing the CCC dates NOW. I have to jump through hoops to be available for the CCC. This next one I have to schedule around work and school (luckily the 1st week of it). If I was told to stop bitching and suck it up and drive on. During the first 3-4 Civ4 CCC's, you can do it to.
We did not poach them. We fostered good relations with them and when Illumaniti did not field a team they asked to play with us. Technically, it's still RaY featuring those dudes. We're like musicians, we swap band mates the way Paris Hilton swaps dingling dinners.
RaY has never won it. Under the current system, alot of luck plays into winning the CCC. Skill is rarely a factor. With a playoff system, the effects of skill would downplay the effects of bad luck. How many times has TX/RaY been caught in a situation where they are missing a key resource in a heavily favoured event? Too many times for me to count, the end result was a good showing, but eventually getting raped by bad luck. Some CCC events, I almost think I'd rather pay the stupid tax and hope I win the lottery than rather play.
Also, with a playoff system, not every event has to be played every weekend.
Another thing the playoff system helps with is allowing more members to play in the same event. There are some really popular era/events out there. Just allowing 3 people to participate blows big monkey balls. (SUPER ROBOT MONKEY TEAM HYPER FORCE GO!).
If it's not obvious, I'm a big fan of the playoff system.

dayrepher, with full respect there s a reason why MUD and MDR win ccc - having best players and best strats. Luck can maybe win once but no constantly - if luck d win u d beat me in at least every 2nd duel - but i guess u ll hardly win 1 in 10.
There s also nothing like good clans play bad clans 1. needed, who knows in advance of ccc which is best clan anyway - each ccc there are like 2 new clans, 1 might be a new top clan. If i want win a event i gotta be able to beat every1. dot.

OCC_Balanced is decided by random (how good your capital is) and this map is far from balanced. In a previous CCC i had 2 food resources, horse, iron, bronze and 3 more hills in a capital. Try to win against that when i alone had more production than 2 my opponents combined and one of them was just several squares away. Classical depends on resources as well. You can't plant a 2nd city before you'll be choked and pillaged to nothing if someone has a horse or bronze in capital and it's a small teamer on a TBG map. Some water maps are decided by random (like that industrial islands teamer we had). City elimination 1 is kinda stupid on some maps/settings.

5) My last post on this topic. Seeding the CCC will ruin it! Plain and simple! I know I would lose interest, as would many clans who are playing for fun, and trying to be competitive at the same time. By the way, seeding works different from what you think. You "seed" only several clans (say, 4) the way so they'll not play first matches with each other. However, their opponents in a first matches are random.

I think a lot of things work differently than what LH thinks. Like Civ 4 for example. Could someone translate what Tommy posted. I don't have the time to figure it out right now.

My "russiaenglish" I'm confused... Do you think I'm Russian or something? Kinda from Ohio in the good old U.S. of A. Google translater sucks anyways. You end up with about what your stuff says. That is just barely intelligeble garblely gook.

This argument about luck is rather silly, sure theres an element of luck involved but generally speaking the better player/team will win!
It is no coincidence MUD or MDR win the CCC every time, they picked up the game the fastest and came up with alot of fresh ideas, which have been fine tuned over time.
At this moment in time you must say player for player these 2 clans generally know the game the best and have the best strategies, that is why they are winning the CCC time and time agian, not because they have good luck.
But the nature of this game is, initally the learning curve is steep-ish then it gets very flat. This means there are limited strategies that you can use, especially in 100-120 turn games. So as knowledge of "how to best play an era" becomes more and more common and little tricks and strategies are learnt by all, the gap between the best and average gets smaller and smaller.
Its kinda like a physics module, if you are studying the same thing for 9 months, some people will pick it up after 2 months, some after 4 months, etc. The CCC being kinda like the exam at the end, sure the questions thats turn up matter but the brigtest always do best!
My predection is around january time another clan will win it

There is not much I can do to garner 10 months worth of dueling experience to even amount a challenge. Now you go challenge the wiz to a duel and then see. I mean come the **** on. It would be like Germany challenging the US to a military conflict. We've had plenty of practice over the past century, while you've really only had practice twice. Apples and oranges my friend.
