Anyone got any? Please post them here!
1. can still see all units within another civs city (according to manual, this is only supposed to be possible if you have the same religion). In the game I played, didn't get the opportunity to find out whether you can still see units on a boat. - or is the book wrong? JUST doesn't make sense at any level.
2. When in Lobby in full-screen mode, can't see game names and info - it only shows the "locks." Works fine in "Windows" mode. (is there another setting to use in options besides the new setting for full-screen?)
3. Lobby games still scroll uncontrollably (in Windows mode)
4. Take-over AI was NOT on and when a player left the game, AI took over.

Patch did nothing for me. I still can't join a MP. I always get the "waiting" screen. Tried 4 times last night with same results. Try to hotjoin and get error messages.
I was successful in joining a single 1v1 game. Whoopdenuts!
Four months of frustration. Started when trying to help with playtesting and could never get the beta versions to run. No help at all from the Firaxis guys. Fried, CS, and Nolan tried to help but ran into brick walls. Now upgraded my system to way above "Recommended" and still stymied.
A few players run the game just fine; but many can't.
I'm done!
I can't invest anymore into this. I've got better things to do. Firaxis and 2K should go hide.

Before I installed the patch I was at least able to play games fine, now When I refresh Game List, Alphebetically Arrange Game Names or just right after Launch in game my whole civ4 will shut down and give me a crash error report. Alt-Tabbing hasn't been fixed. This is pitiful :/

If 1 is "yes" - and you've checked, and checked after reading this - please get ahold of me so we can find out your specs and what not. MMV - What you list as #1 is not a bug; it is intended. Give you a gold star if you can figure out why. If not, I'll tell ya later. #2 is known. #3 - Uh... I've not heard of this from anyone else. You sort them and it does that?! You're patched correctly? Could someone else confirm this? Mine doesn't scroll anymore at all. #4 There's a difference between "Take-Over AI" and the "AI Taking Over." The first one is "PLAYER takes over AI." The second is "AI takes over for a PLAYER." The first you can prevent with a check-box, if you're playing a co-op. The second you can only prevent by staying at the "wait" screen, or by making sure the player quits, NOT retires.

... MMV - What you list as #1 is not a bug; it is intended. Give you a gold star if you can figure out why. If not, I'll tell ya later. .... Seeing units inside a city, even if you don't have the same religion is one thing, that's what scouting is for...right? But seeing units inside a boat...that's another. Hope you don't mean that its intended to be able to see all units inside a boat.

1. Ok, can't figure it out, tired of guessing, please enlighten me (us). (unless it has something to do with city size)
2. thanks for letting us know (spm posted yesterday that lobby issues were fixed).
3. yup, patched correctly; anyone else? Yes, there were several people in the lobby last night saying the same thing.
4. Thanks, have never seen this fully explained in this context. So, no matter what, unless a player "retires" we're still going to have the AI (not such a bad thing). BUT - even after the "wait" thing is over, the AI STILL takes over for the "dearly departed" player. NOTE TO SELF: Explain in each game that if someone has to leave to PLEASE HIT THE RETIRE button.
THANKS!!!

NOTE FOR THOSE STILL HAVING PROBLEMS AFTER PATCH INSTALLATION
Since no directions were given, this patch "CAN" EFFECT drivers. As with MOST "driver installations," TURN OFF ANTI-VIRUS" before installing.
If you don't, there's a chance you'll have a problem.

X-Fire is not spyware; uninstall it if you don't want it. It's a cross between YIM and Gamespy.

Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Sid Meier's Civilization 4. The windows installer cannot continue. So the patch is suspecting me for running a pirated copy or what. When I could, I would shuffle the bill for the game in big heaps and clumps in its greedy installation mouth till it shuts up. All worked fine and now that I got this error and clicked "Okay" and it let me keep right on going. Try and see what happens.

1. Ok, can't figure it out, tired of guessing, please enlighten me (us). (unless it has something to do with city size) Remember that the combat system as it stands is rock/paper/scissors, and whatever the most effective defender is will show up. All you'd have to do is click on various types of units at home and the strongest defender against that type would appear in the city, so you'd get the full roster of available types anyhow. True, they could have coded a "show as defender" but that would've given the defender a HUGE, VAST, HORRIBLE advantage. Imagine walking up with your 8 swords to an unpromoted archer... and finding 6 macemen sitting in the city unrevealed. Or striking at a longbow with your knight stack, only to find out there are nine pikes in the city. With as much as people feel defenders have the advantage now, that's hardly an extra bonus they needed on top of it. You could spend all day abusing the crap out of hidden units as a defender. Very, very bad mojo. I'm sure there are at least five or six more ugly uses I'm not even thinking of.... There could have been all kinds of special-case fixing and workarounds to avoid all this, but honestly, it would have been far too much trouble, and nonsensical besides. As for galleys, I don't know the answer there, but I'm guessing it was because "hide unit" code didn't exist anywhere else for that sort of thing - and at least in the case of the GALLEY, a lot of the units would have been "on deck." Galleons and transports, obviously, would be another story entirely.

Thanks!
good answer on the city unit issue, and it is a nice counter-balance to being able to see in ALL cities that share your religion.
Indeed - the logic of it IS "gameplay" and not strategic ability (i.e. in real life, not possible, lol).
Wouldn't it be nice to drive and approach Rockwall, TX and be able to see where the police are before you get there? LOL!

got it to work. I guess I am hard at the edge with all these mp troubles. Easy to lose contenance. slipping to the dark side. Ok, played a few sp games and all seems to work fine.

yeah I agree with the defence thing and galleys, galleons would be sitting pretty low in the water with all that firepower on board too. Think of the Mary rose. But I think with later transports you shouldn't be able to see what's inside. Especially on carriers.

What the patch didn't fix..... for non-english players.
More localization issues... New options in the options screen are named "french"...
We have now 2 more checkboxes named "french"... if you want to play fullscreen, check "french"... if you want low textures, check "french" too (but the second "french" checkbox)... and if you want to adjust texture level, make a choice in the "french" listbox... In the lobby, if a game has no ping, you can know it when there is "french" written in the ping column... and in game, when there is "french"... well forget about it, you'll never know what it is ;D
Btw, civ4 still crashing when in lobby and the program is minimized... before patch, civ4 would close itself but now gives a regular windows error which is better but same result... we could manage double-screen with civ3, now impossible with civ4 since the program minimizes and crashes.
Impossible to read the lobby chat history since it will auto-scroll down whenever someone says something. I haven't checked if hyperlinks now work in the lobby chat.
