When ever I try hosting games I get complaints from lobby members that they cannot connect to my game. This problem has been consistent for a while and people have no trouble connecting to me when I'm in another game hosted by another person.

it's in the book of the box it came in
there's also a thread about it in the technical section of this forum
people in the lobby are generally happy to assist as well
but mostly, it's in the book of the box it came in.

If you don’t want to be a “bad peer” make sure you have port 2056 open for UDP traffic in your firewall and forwarded to your computer by your router (assuming you have a router) and/or try restarting civilization while holding down shift key and/or make sure you have gamespyarcade installed.
Forward port open UDP Port 2056 in Router NAT Configuration. 2056 separately for each internal IP

Thankyou, I figured out how to open the ports and I have no more trouble hosting games.
