I'm getting rather peeved battling to play multiplayer. I play in windowed mode have allowed access through my Norton Firewall and have opened the port on the router. I have managed decent non ladder games with some Europeans but seem to have no end of trouble with any games I've tried to join with more than 3 players. There is always serious lag and often my game just freezes and I have to ctr/alt/del out (yes I have waited ages in case it was lag)
I use a Fujitsu Siemens amilo M3438 laptop 1.73 Pentium M processor 512 RAM Nvidia GeForce 6800 256MB Graphics I have Broadband connection 2MB speed.
Any ideas/advice.....please?

Magzi, I took a look at your system specs here: www.fujitsu-siemens.com/Resources/59/562938810.pdfAnd the problem with your laptop is that the "256meg video" is taken from main memory, as stated on the second page of that pdf : "Graphics PCI graphic card: GeForce Go 6800 256MB DDR1 external Video RAM" Therefore between the video card and your system you have only 512meg memory, and if the video card is set to use 256megs then your system only has 256meg to operate on which is just enough for WinXP and Word to run but not near enough for CIV. You are disconnecting from games not because of your 2meg internet but because your machine is unable to process the game fast enough and is dropping out of the game. So I'm afraid that you need another 512meg of memory for your labtop to run CIV properly, and you'll likely have to get that memory from the original manufacturer as Laptop ram is not generic ram. CS

Great thanks CanuckSoldier. So it's a trip to the PC shop next weekend then, looks like I am able to add a fair bit of RAM and hopefully then all will be well and I can stop upsetting everyone.
