Why is my chat in CIV so laggy? I'll type something, press enter, and it will finally show up about 2-5 minutes later.
what do I do to fix this? what part of my computer sucks?

I've seen chat lag last 2-3 seconds but not minutes. You probably need more RAM on your computer. Mine has 640Megs.

Yesterday, I had all those issues.
Upgraded today to 1gig ram and the latest Nvidea 3D graphics card.
Still the same prob as yesterday, 5-45 seconds lag in the lobby from when I type something until it posts.
And....... I get booted just as often.
I've heard that there are some issues with GS and the new game i.e. no seperate gs chat-lobby and there's currently a campaign to get one (but saw last night where a beta tester/admin told someone that "it's not going to happen" ) - but the box has GS all over it, as well as when you load game.
I thought one of the largest draws and improvements to this game was "a more stable platform for mp?"
(I would consider lobby, game initiation/game launch area as critical to a game)

There is a lobby bug, that will cause a CTD. This ussually happens when you try to switch windows, but also will just happen while hanging out in chat. This I believe is caused by the number of games listed, and the number of people in the lobby. When beta testing we never had anywhere close to the number that we have now, so no real way to stress test the lobby like it is now. Hopefully this will be fixed in the first patch. I believe the same thing is going on here with the chat being slow. Again hopefully this will be taken care of in one of the first patchs. DTA
