Wow, lots of pent up frustration , eh, drix?
Sounds like a Civ3 player that cannot tolerate civ4; reduced to criticizing what he does not understand. Ignorance is bliss would be another way of putting it.
1v1 is a special type of game. If you enjoy them, swell. This does not make you some hero of sorts if you are v. good at them. Broaden your horizons, break free of your linear mode. Get out and enjoy(the) life (of civ4). Don't be such a sour apple.

I seriously do not see the complexity in building settlers? they are one turn each..... Lets put it this way I made like 350 something mfg the first time I played Future

Ive usualy had room for 20 cities. But not much more than this on inland sea maps. But in GOOD future matches i didnt have time to expand so fast as I had to keep more focus on units. (Some frenc guys had a good future match with me) I dont use only sam but interceptors + sam are a good counter to bombing runs. With a few helicopters protecting and moving in on stacks your opponent wont be able to do great dmg. The true key to countering bombing runs is having units nearby to reinforce. And to make him pay for his bombing runs by shooting down some of the airplanes and makeing it cost him deerly. And if you have 25 bombers in peace your opponent obviously has played a crappy game. A truly intense future game sees every unit used allmost every turn and mad scrambling over every avialable hammer to sqeeeze out that one unit to gain the upper edge as both players throw in a good mix of units and really are constantly trying to outwit each other.

I didn't actually play civ3 until last summer and I played it for a week. Before that I played it when it first came out and found it lacking compared to civ2. Honestly, how can a tank lose to a spearmen? It was like playing civ1 all over again. Civ2>Civ3>Civ1>Civ4
And ok, I'll giv eyou the whole 1v1 thing. Lets face it though, 1v1 is the best judge of skill and playing large games just takes too damn long. I like team games alot though. Clans were always fun.

Nope im just not a slow and save up my bombers, because they suck for anything else -- they cant bomb roads Yes there is some strategy in Future but if they open up a few doors talked about, and look back on civ3 future.. and the idea of having only one two settlers max then it would be a much better future game.

Also, you guys should be thanking me. 3 pages and how many views in just a few hours? Damn, perhaps we should get a forum ladder so you could impress us with your 'skill ratings' there as well... What should we be thanking you for anyway?

OMG IC. You totally walked into that. Go back and play EVE, then come and tell me how good it is. And to maintain the unrelated subject matter feel to this thread - Does or did anyone play WoW?

Offtopicness is great when the topic itself sux. I used to play wow but i quit it because to be honest i was a huge timesink... Actually i made a study about wow. (about how much time people use on playing wow) Oh and pizza is a must at ccc's (just adding more offtopic) - what is your favorite food to keep you going in cccs 2nd day when you have waited for your opponents for 8 hours straight and are very very tired?

And they were much appreciated Islandia. No I haven't got into the trial yet, I'm downloading the latest patch (painfully slowly) as I type. Heh, if I had got into the game I probably would have bothered you with further queries by now. ;D But I've been hopping round the net checking forums etc. and this games looks well WoWy ( ). But just wondering if I should wait for BC to come out.

LMAO, at least I can link my off-topic question vaguely to the subject of the thread. Well I can give you a sort of timeline of how I came to ask the question. Hum, I think food makes you more tired. Water is good to keep you awake. ...Oh and cigars, of course. BTW Willburn what were your findings in this study? Also please tell me your opinions of the game, forgetting the it takes over your whole life issue which I am well aware of. Hehe, when you said you have however many million games I kind of guessed one of them would be WoW. ;D

Hehe, when you said you have however many million games I kind of guessed one of them would be WoW. ;D I dont remember saying I have a million games but yeah I have wow. (collectors edition and normal edition as I couldnt wait for the collectors edition in my mail so i bought normal in the meantime...heh yes i was addicted.) Its a great game no doubt. Especially once you get into the higher level raids. At my time of playing many where "noobs" and didnt know raid tactics and what the hell dragon kill points where ( a system of points per hour played on raid to distribute loot) Im sure thats better now as people have matured and played wow for a while. I recommend a southpark episode on wow if you want a bit comical look at the whole addictiveness of wow. (here is a bit of it : www.metacafe.com/watch/259612/south_park_world_of_warcraft/)My study found among other things that the public belif of wow beeing a game for teenage kids to be compleatly wrong. A high percentage where adults and many where females. There where people who played a lot of hours per week and there where people who played far less. Most people had no problem qutting wow if they wanted to and had no social pressure around them to quit playing wow (a good indicator something is wrong is if your mom or gf starts telling you your playing too much.) Anyways the weakness of my study was a) voulenteering to write on it ment that on average most likly more adults would respond as kids dont give a damn anyway b) too few people only 60 i think it was. So hard to generalize. But anyways my bottom line about wow is that truly is a timesink. Its a very fun timesink but its nothing more than that. And it can be addictive. So watch out for that. I know im not supposed to moralize but ive seen friends get f**ked up by that game... Here is a bbc news about addiction and wow: www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8hfK3RQs2gHere is a good comment about this on yourtube pointing out everyone is addicted to something anyways so who gives the f**k: www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeTmV91x8l8&mode=related&search=this one is great: www.purepwnage.com/episodes/7/ (great show btw) it shows addiction to wow to an extreme heh.

Civ2 was played on the MSN gaming zone...you know, that site that kicked the nuts out of gamespy for years. Also, the ladder had nearly as many people as the civ4 player ladder does when it was at its height. Also, I have no idea who Bantams is. I am EyesOfNight and that is the most known name I had. The older players that have been around since 1999 will know who I am.
