Is there anyway we can see finals and semifinals in CCC?
Good experiences, like finals and semifinals in CCC 39, will have true values if a lot people look at, study, and talk about the games.

only if they upload their savedata without setting passwords.... One thing good about command and conquer is that you can watch the video of the whole game (which by no means is perfect because of many software bugs), but at least there is chance to make it a sport.

Its the same with Starcraft and Warcraft 3, full replays of mathces are easily available and imo are a big part of the huge success of those games. Those replays dont actually 'record' the game, but instead just log every action from each player as well as the result of all RNGs, so that the replay is just a game played out by AIs with predetermined actions and RNG results (making the replay file tiny).
I dont see any reason why this would be particularly unsuitable for a TBS game like Civ4 - apart from the everpresent fact that we are a minority in a SP game and its unlikely that the SP posters at Apolyton and CFC are crying out for this feature.
Perhaps a user created mod could be used for specific games that will draw a large download crowd (ie CCC finals) that stores the info necessary to view the replay.

I'm not sure a mod would be able to do that, the dev's actually use a Directx9 video capture program to create those videos they use for demo movies, but the full version is not free and the free version is very limited. This is a crazy suggestion imo, people are already playing the same and not thinking, this would make the situation worse.
I cant say i agree with teammates seeing what your building either. Land, units, and sharing line of sights is fine, but zooming into your cites is too much, and knowing what order you build what. I think this reduces the games longevity, and how long it stays interesting for.
The original threas was about CV wanting to improve, the truth is, the best way to do this is comming up with new ideas and testing them of, a combination of practice and tinking ability is needed.
Here a very common mistake that everyone makes including myself, they find some stuff which works and then they do it agian and agian and agian and agian, which is probally due to laziness, because i for 1 cant be bothered to think most of the time. Ideally you should always be fine tuning until you are very confidant you have a era or game type clocked. Some people have got certian eras "clocked"!!
Another thing that distingushes the average from the good, is the ability to take risks, this doesnt mean build stupid cites that will fall, and screw you up, but too many players play overly safe and they are killing themselves just very slowly so they dont realize.

TonyThe cookie cutter element is definitely a downside to viewable replays, many players tend to play the same underlying strategy. But it does give new players a look at strategies that do work and eases the learning curve for them. Also seeing a strategy played out doesn't necessarily mean it can be easily replicated - there can still be a lot of subtlety in the execution. Anyway unfortunately-(imo) its unlikely we will see this for Civ4.

I think that a replay system would be great, I'd love to go over some of the matches.
