Dear Friends:
Just a reminder that it is *NEVER* acceptable for someone involved in ladder competition to load a save during a game that is in progress. This is true during both tournament events (such as the CCC) and regular ladder play.
Any player caught doing so will be suspended. If this happened during the CCC, the clan would be disqualified from that event.
I really hope this isn't happening at all, but it has been brought to our attention that possible people are dropping from a game, loading the save to view enemy positions, locations, troop levels, etc. and then returning.
This wasn't supposed to be possible in CIV4 but apparently it is. Weak passwords make it more possible - so use a difficult to guess password, please.
I know that the vast majority of players are honorable; however, a very small minority can spoil it for the rest of us.
Sincerely, SPM

I don't do this, but I will tell you right now, you don't password protect your civ, you deserve someone doing this against you.
JUST CALL IT EVOLUTION DOING ITS JOB!

Loading the game from "direct ip connect" bypasses passwords I am pretty sure, so it wouldn't even matter in that case.

Basically due to the fact that different passwords can have the same hashcode, I'm not sure that put a longer password be enough. The cracker will find the short password which give the good hashcode.

However, you are correct in that you can't set a password if a game starts in DirectIP -- so this set up needs to definitely be banned for CCC.

Not sure of the difference but I'm in several DirectIP Pitboss games where the game is password protected and the individual civs are too.

Yes pitboss is a different animal from normal MP in a couple area's. I considered trying to use pitboss in CCC games, but my technical investigation revealed that pitboss actually increases the network traffic because it is like adding one more player to a p2p game, it is not a server/client situation. With the retire bug gone, many hosts are keeping the Take Over AI box checked, especially in teamers, to prevent the game from getting scrapped due to a non-returning dropper.
