Is there any chance that the ladder could run a tournament with single player events, like event #1 of CCC, for the first 2 eras cton: ancient (play on Saturday) and classical(play on Sunday) or maybe every era if we have the players for it but I would think must player would gravitate to the earlier eras.
This would be for player not in a clan and players who usually don't play such events for a clan because another member of clan might be more qualified but would like to play and feel they could compete or just anyone who wants the extra excitement a tourney can generate.
Now, I know some will say that you can run a tournament anytime you like but it will never gain any traction if its not the same day and time every month, say the second Saturday/Sunday of every month or any stable date. And it needs to be run and promoted like a CCC weekend also. Please no Friday. I think that excludes many(me for one)but most can probably play Sat. and Sun.
My suggestions would be:
Unlimited number of players can enter 8 players per cton Standard world Island sea Medium or high sea 2 city elim Random civs 130 turns No barbs Always war standard cton settings and rules
Take the top 4 scores go to next round till you only left with 8 players and then they play for 1st through 8th place.
List the winner in the forums just like a CCC
Has this been tried before and not work or is it too much trouble. If it was on a date I could play I would be playing it often.

As it would be out of clans, many ppl would register maybe. So 130 turns seems too big. 100 turns could be sufficient.
Also, (perhaps because i prefer it ;D ) I guess 1 city elim could make games end earlier.
If u fix a stable date, u sure one of those will run in same time than CCC (every 6 weeks)
There's also other settings than cton that are playable : 1v1, OCC...
But compete is definitly fun IMO, so, I am with u here ^_^

My observation after being HTD on the c3c ladder for a long time is that tournaments are more likely to be successful if they are held consistently with the same format and same time/day.
I believe that the current HTD here demonstrated that over at the c3c ladder.

I put together a tournament over on CIV3 Ladder called the World's Single Championship which was similar to CCC except it involved individual players.
Perhaps, if there is interest, we can set one up to run in about 3 weeks (in between CCC's).
Best, SPM

We would certainly support a WSC torunament, I believe the only reason this hasn't been run before is a lack of a organizer(s), if one or more TD's want carry this the admin team would certainly support it.

Should have more medieval + 1x1 events, instead of the crappy heavy luck based ancient and classic noob 1x1s .

I believe for an event to be scheduled on a specific day of the week, and at a specific time, with specific settings poses a problem for most TD's. Take for example Saturday afternoon, no single TD can be expected to give up every Saturday afternoon, or even be able to schedule far enough into the future to run an event on just one Saturday per month. In my opinion, you would need to make it a team effort for the TD's, much like the CCC is organized.
We are a little short handed on TD's at the moment so I would like to take this opportunity to do some recruiting for new TD's. How about it whip?
