From Apolyton:
If you were wondering why there hasn`t been a patch for Civilization IV: Warlords yet and if it`s still coming, wonder no more. The good news is that Firaxis designer Alex "alexman" Mantzaris announced in our forums that a patch is in the works (some time ago actually, but we missed it). The bad news is that it won`t be released before mid-October, not because it isn`t ready yet but because of scheduling issues with Quality Assurance (QA), who need to test and approve the update before it can be released (to make sure it doesn`t cause more problems than it fixes).

Post by Tony on Sept 16, 2006 16:51:17 GMT -5
IMO the game is pretty unbuggy sure there are some loose ends that need to be covered, but generally speaking. The game connects 90% of the time, seems to be the same people that lagg game after game so this implies that its computers and connections causing this rather then programming (alot of 5v5's are lagg free). And there are no major exploits that people can take advantage of!
But i have a question for anyone that is in the know, how comes connection issues have been fixed? During the nightmare that was vanilla CIV we were told all the connection problems were due to gamespy and the MP programming itself is flawless, was this BS to keep people quiet?
I know vanilla CIV was in the past but just kinda makes me mad, first a shoddy MP product that connects 20-40% of the time, then lie after lie passing the buck to gamespy!
Maybe im wrong, but this is how it looks!

I really hope they get a handle on the lag issue. I don't know what games you are playing Tony, but just about every 5v5 Ren Teamer I play in gets almost unplayable about 50 turns into the game.

There never were any weapons....they were giving comfort and support to Al Qaeda...

lag is all about amount of units and improvements/roads on whole map - weiredly this problem was fixed in vanilla patch and is back now ...
i guess tony plays more early era teamers where are less untis around
and if mookie still dont figure that ren inland sea is worst setting to play this game he shall be burdened by lag. Thats the 1 setting being made for lag - load of room and even bigger load of units ... it cuts so many aspects of this game

I felt really bad for the other team that game. I would have scrapped that in a heartbeat if they had said anything.

I know it would require a complete rewrite of the game but the fact is this game shouldn't lag unless you are moving units close to where the enemy is moving his units. If the enemy can't see where i'm moving my units in my land then there is no need for the game to wait for an acknowledgement of from other players.

The lag Mookie and Knupp get, I get when I play front in a big teamer and there are more than 20 enemy units on-screen. That is main reason I can't play teamers on any map that funnels units to limited areas. I miss playing big teamers and my number of ladder games played per week is significantly down since the release of Warlords because I can't play the big teamer anymore. Hope they fix it, but I'm not optimistic.
