This question is very simple. A game becomes official when the game starts, not before and not after. I'm not sure why this is a big issue. Yes if somebody leaves when teams are picked it's annoying but it's going to happen. I don't think I've ever seen this happen when there wasn't somebody else in the lobby to take his/her place. Repicking teams doesn't take long, especially if you are with a group of people who just want to play. If we want to maximize the time we play a game and lessen the time we waste we should be writing to gamespy. Connection issues, drops, buddy list problems, "musical chairs" (where one person can't connect to another so he leaves then can't connect to another, so they leave and then they can't connect to somebody else......) is a lot more time consuming than picking teams. As I've said before teams will never be completely fair. Most people on the weaker team will just say "teams aren't fair but whatever, let's go." If there is somebody constantly complaining then tell him to go or x in. If he refuses to do either then boot him. Very simple.

"It's my life, I'll can leave anytime before launch"
Well, next time you won't get invited so you'll be saved the trouble of exiting before launch.
I don't play many teamers because of the BS involved in the set-up.

I think all can guess how I voted. I'll save you the rehash of my reasons.
Tommy makes a good point for why not to do it my way. But I still think in the long term once all agree to remain no matter what after picking begins things would be more harmonious. Also people might pay more attention to the picking process to ensure fair teams if it is not acceptable to leave after pick.

the games if offical when teams are picked( picking is part of the starting of the game ) pros dont spend one hour in fu-cking staging... u guys rather spend one hour staging or 2 than actual game... well i think ur real problem you guys want teams in you own favor, not that u dont want to waste time becuase oviosuly you guys will wait 2 hours and finally stuck with first team sometimes Time is obviously noy the issue if you are willing to spend that much time in lobby, because time and time again we are wasting time in lobby.

Well, when this player, Ironclad, is in a staging game... we always wait for him to pick (cause he's cap, i wonder how), to come back from afk, etc... Iron, you could save us half of the 2 hours (yes 1 hour, i know you have trouble counting... except your cities) ! ;D ;D ;D We forgive you, noobclad.... for now

If the game hasn't launched the game has not started.
This issue is related to persons chosing teams and one or more people not liking the team they are on. A player who frequently leaves because of this will find they damage their reputation. I can understand that when you get on a team with people with little skill. The host should try to split the teams evenly in my opinion. Low Rank/High Rank pairing.
In a related matter I'm seeing an incredible increase in the number of non reports. Please folks if someone drops please go back to lobby to pick them up at least once when they can't hot join

Pet Peave - establish team captains quickly before people drop, too much chit-chat and it looks like the game will never start. Give option for random teams or teams with even distrib of experienced players.... but get the show on the road. Don't you know it's already past my bedtime before my wife lets me play?
