Pentium4 1.6g processor 1g ram Nvidea GeForce FX 5500 card
Whether in minimum, medium, or highspeed graphics settings in single player, the following occurs:
1 - Game frequently drops to desktop (with no apparent pattern) - game is still running and a simple mouse-click on the task-bar brings it right back up with no delay.
2 - When contacted by AI via diplomacy, game occasionally get stucks there in diplomacy mode and I'm unable to get out of it (AI asking "well...." and the area below where you say fairwell, or would like to propose, etc is "grayed out" and you can't click on it). While the game screen is "stuck" in diplomacy, I'm able to end turn with shift/enter and still move units (bearing in mind you have to try and look around the diplomacy screen). The only method I've been able to find to leave the diplomacy screen is to ctl/alt/del and end program - losing game.
Anyone else having these problems?
MP play......... don't EVEN wanna' touch that yet, lobby issues.

I love dropping out of the MP lobby every 30 seconds for no reason and then taking 3 minutes for what I want to say to actually show up I strongly recommend that you go windowed mode instead of full screen mode. This seems to solve that problem. You need to access the directory where CIV4 was installed. Something like C:\Program Files\Firaxis games\Sid Meier's Civilization IV\. WHen you get there, open its contents and you'll see a shortcut to _Civ4Config. Double click on that and you're in Windows Notepad on this file. Look for an item like: ; Specify whether to play in fullscreen mode 0/1/ask FullScreen = 1 Change it to zero! 1 is fullscreen 0 is windowed ask gives you choice but always use windowed for now is my advice. I've tried that, and yes it does improve it some, but it dosn't eliminate it all together. I can get about 30 secs in lobby in full screen and about 2 mins in windowed before a CTD.

I've tried that both ways - no difference.
ALTHOUGH......... I have found a way out of being stuck in the Diplo screen.
I click the windowsbutton+enter at the same time - unlocks it and solves the problem (someone had told me the escape button, that didn't work).
I also played an entire SP game with my Norton Anti-Virus OFF (as well as my spyware, etc) - no difference in game play and still had the same issues.
I now understand that both of these things are "KNOWN ISSUES"
Is it possible that someone of great knowledge and experience can perhaps start a "Known Issues" forum thread and list them? That way when we run across stuff like I did, I won't go through the process of thinking there's something wrong with my disk, my comp, etc.

Thank you! Having to click on the screen to move around the map was driving me nuts.
