OK I READ A XBOX 360 MAG AND IT SAID AS FOLLOWS THE MAG WAS XBOXWORLD 360 they said as follows "weve been saying for months how we'd love to see the strategy genre make a significant impact on the xbox 360 and, following the announcements of star trek and LOTR: battle for middle earth II , it seems the trickle might be turning into a tide. Sid Meier's company Firaxis, the outfit behind the quite magnificent but life -eating CIVILIZATION series, has stated how his company is 'thinking about' making a next gen console version. Meier has pointed to the ease in which traditional PC controls can be mapped to the Xbox controller. soi hardly a concrete announcement but it's encouraging nonetheless and Civilisation has apperaed on a console before - civII on ps1. indeed Firaxis brought Sid Meier's pirates! to xbox last year but why would why should you, a console gamer, care about the spoddy, PC-only civ IV? Because its a work of genius, thats why. When we've not being wreaking havoc in GRAW on live or beating each other senseless in Fight Night, we've been blocking the Russian Empire with our submarine squadrons, constructing the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and threatening the USA with our slash of nukes. And we'd rather be doing it on 360 than PC.so come on Sid, its on!" the above is as read in the may2006 issue of xboxworld 360 lets hope it makes it i for one would love to see civ on a next gen console especially the 360 as mines gathering dust already as the 360 was made for such a game

Well I'm not really a consol gamer, although my kids own a PS2 and a GameCube. I'm sure the game code can be ported but how well would a game controller do everything that we do with a mouse and keyboard etc.

I don't know, Civ 4 doesn't have a lot of controls and the only one that needs to be fast fast fast is movement. I bet it would be an easy port in terms of usability.

Anyone know if firaxis has any plans for this? This could pontially make the game 3 times as big then it is, but i guess they gonna have to introduce a mouse(maybe keybord to) for the Xbox if it is to work!
Makes so much sense to convert stat games to the 360, i think they should do the same with WoW.
I know its a old old thread but i remembered reading something about the XBox and CIV so i done a search for it and hey presto!

Don't know anything about this but in a way I kinda hope it's not true. Getting harder and harder for me to find any real good pc games anymore. Just not into the RPG style or WOW is not my cup of tea either. Would hate to see CIV go to game modules, but then again I was first introduced to Civ on playstation so who knows.

I read somewhere that a Keyboard is comming to the 360 so who knows perhaps a mouse will come soon as well but would make a lot of sence if say At least they developed CIV5 with next gen consoles in mind
Wasnt civ2 ported to PS?

yeah i'd rather use a mouse and keyboard than a silly contoller with 22 buttons that's shakes and shimmies whenever you get hit by a lightsaber or dragon breath
