I find especially when on front line in teamers, you cant help but to see what sumone if Pinging about to see if it concerns you, which wastes vital time....and its especially bad when people that are still learning the game offer "helpful" advice every couple of seconds

i hear what your saying, it can be annoying when you have laods of pings over your land, and sometimes you dont know which are for you and which are not.
But as you start to play more and more teamers you start to understand they are an important part of team play and coordination. You also start to get good at understanding which pings are for you and which are not, for example lets say your at the bottom of a inland sea map, pings in a northly direction at not going to be for you, so dont bother checking them.
I think pinging is all about getting used to it, and realizing that people on your team are only trying to help. As pinging SAVES ALOT of vital time, not wastes!!
But one thing that no one can deny is when crap players ping stupid things, like a stack that been on your land for 6 turns, is annoying no matter how used to it you are.

I'm still learning so I find it helpful. I can usually tell in a split second whether is is relevant to me by a glance at ping and comment.

There should be a hotkey that centers a screen on the last ping location (pressing it another time should center a screen on a second last ping location etc.). Like it was done, say, in Starcraft many, many years ago (you can press space to center on the last event)... Then it will save some time, yes. As it is now, it wastes more time than it saves. Say, for me it breaks a default micromanagement cycle. It disappears too fast so it's impossible to finish current business and watch it later when i finished microing workers for that turn, for example. And it generally requires some non-standart decision-making so i need to "quit" my "micromanagement mode" in which i can control workers/units faster. P.S. Anyone who thinks that there should be a way to disable pinging should stick to ctons. Teamers definately aren't their game style

I rarely take any notice unless that ping arrow is pointing to my land or in a direction that's not next to an ally. Most times anyone with any sense will ping and offer advice anyway. Just pinging the map is a waste of time. What tell me what your going on about. Basically another rule as well to follow if someone pings the map and doesnt tell you about it and the arrow is obviously in someone other allies land then ignore it.

I found the "single" ping to be useful many times in the game, sometimes you might have seen the danger befpre the ping but its nice to see that your teammate also have seen it and try to warn you.
What i do hate is the multiple ping on things thats not so importent, like pinging 10 times with p+enter in a land area followed with the comment: - expand here...
ONE ping of these kind is enough please...
It makes me think of the submarine movie, the hunt for red october with Sean Connery when he says: -reply the americans with one ping... one ping only please....
So be like Sean Connory, be cool and ping only once! ;D

It's probably best to talk first anyway unless it's like a stack coming in and there's no time. For example in games I've played I average maybe one or two pings if I'm in a non forward position and maybe 4 or 5 if on the front lines.
You should be keeping an eye on other team mates but if your spending all your time doing that then your gonna be losing time to do what you need to be effective.

Well, if you play only in teamers with a balanced teams (or at least a number of teamers where you are in a stronger team is equal to a number of teamers where you are in a weaker team) then your win/loss on average will be 50% So win/loss from teamers shows only how much you play in a stronger team.

maybe win % shows more .. maybe u are often in stronger team but maybe
you r a stronger cap as the other cap or u picked more clever - or your standing isnt as high as your skill - or u just tend to win more often as others do

Good captain is half of the victory. I played enough to know how it affects chances to win. You can pick clever only if you play with the same group of players. It's hard to pick clever if you never played with someone or it was a month ago. Also, sometimes there are 3 players that are better than others so 1st pick gets 2nd and it's 1vs2 from the start. Or there are 5 of them so it's 2 vs 3 etc. It's an obvious choice, it has nothing common with picking clever. Anyway, if teams are balanced (every team has about 50% chance to win) then you'll get 50% chance to win if you're constantly playing them. If teams aren't balanced, then you'll get a different chance to win. It's hard to argue with such a simple math

yesssssssssssssssssss, if teams are equal then teams are imbalanced? Ok, if you don't understand obvious things i may explain. If teams are about equal if you count only personal player non-leadership/non-team strategy skills and some team has a better captain (i.e. he has better leadership, team strategy skills etc.) then obviously team with a better captain has a bigger chance to win.

And his skill should presumably be lower I think.
