I would hazard a guess that C4F authors will be defending their position in court in the near future and anyone who is using the illegal access will be marked and prohibited from connecting to GameSpy servers. I hope you're wrong, but it could very well be that you're correct on this matter.

The solution is a chat program that will emulate the proper handshakes to appear to be an independent instanced CIV.
It would require a 2nd lobby account, but that wouldn't be a big deal. I already use a second one for PitBoss hosting.

In the mean time I strongly urge all C4P member to go back and use our IRC room that we were just setting up when C4F came along. It's the best, home made solution, to communicating with other while in a game, and is especially usefull for our hard working TD staff during CCC's. Just click on the C4P alt chat link in the forums.

Can you make connecting easier too? If not CIv4f looks a better bet, why not ask them how they did it?

Good thing GS doesn't know that Eyes of Night developed the C4F software ROFL I guess it should be technically doable for (the real programmer) to mimic the CIV handshake to appear like another CIV instance, but it could probably be dangerous, law-wise....

Either way, it's not something the ladder can do anything about so we can only use tools at our disposal, which is our IRC room, if CFC and 'poly can use IRC to good effect I'm sure people here can figure it out as well, and DTA and WarningU2 have made the settup as user friendly as it can get via our forum sign up process.
