oh well - civ4f was exactly what we needed - now after nearly everyone got it they waste it?? are they even allowed to do that? (I paid 50 € dont i have a right to play the game?)
does proly this x-fire do same as civ4f ?
oh well there have to be some way to access lobby when not being in game!!!
so waht exactly do they do when u use civ4f? I m interested in only ip games anyway - can they stop me from doing them?

Oh well, can u pass on to the developers that some of us need access to the lobby throughout a game. During CCC times (as a TD) often we are playing one game and are TD for another. Can't do both without c4f atm.

They can block these users all they like, if they don't provide acces to the lobby whilst in game, then sooner or later someone will find some other way of doing it and they'll be back to square one. I suggest they stop thingying about and give us what we want.

No, Sidhe, because now Gamespy has started monitoring the lobby for unsanctioned connections - they'll just start slamming the door faster and faster one people who aren't using the Civ4 interface.
Tommy - you do have a right to play the game. What you (according to Gamespy) do not have a right to do is use a third-party program to connect to their server communication farm.
Do that many games allow lobby interaction WHILE IN GAME, within the game's interface? I'm not so sure.

I suspect so but it's like viruses, Virus protectors are constantly on the back foot. There are ways and means to go undetected on any server and it would take but a single proxy connection to give access to a lobby so that people could at least see it if not necessarily communicate on it. If enough people had the software to chat, much like they did with c3c then it wouldn't matter what they did to protect there lobby, access to the lobby would be irrelevant. And why they don't have it in this case is really anyones guess. Just seems to be a monumentally short sighted and stupid decision to me. But hey You don't have to be particularly smart to do a business degree obviously Keep shafting there customers and pretty soon they wont have any. Whoop de do a couple of thousand lost customers is nothing to them, but a couple of thousand irate customers who have access to the Internet is a world of pain. If they don't care it's easy enough to find a way to make them care. Hopefully it will never come to that, they might actually see sense and stop thingying about? I wouldn't put money on it though. Fight the power!! people !! lol Sorry I had a muse and I went with it, but you know what I mean right ;D

Melodrama much?
Count how many people are on these boards. Now count how many of them use C4F. Now count how many care.
NOW count how many are motivated enough to do anything about it.
If you're still above ten... learn to count.
Gamespy isn't going to be harmed in the least by C4F's shutdown, and they don't give a hoot.

1 day suspension if we use it right? So maybe we use it every second day to set up our games ;D If they are not willing to offer a decent service I dont see what the issues are. I am suscribed to GS for C3C yet they offer me no service for Civ, without the PM lobby what is their concern? Do they feel the civ4fan connections + the game connections are too numerous for their serveurs? Someone explain to me in english why we cannot use both please.

I was booted 3 times by the chat host in the early stages of Civ 4 from the GS lobby so I guess they care a little, but not about what matters.

Maybe we should set up a CIV4 user room in yahoo chat, we can have it running in the back, this would be an idel solution, but getting the word out would be a little annoying initally, but if enough effort is made it could be even better then c4f

Now do not take this wrong but I get enough annoying PMs at times from people I do know imagine having that 1000 fold. I use YIM for tournies as the lobby is not sufficient, but having 1000+ buddies... Sounds like 2 much 2 me. I think there should be a hot key for the lobby in game and also a hot key to see games up. Also I think you should be able .....well never mind poop in 1 hand a wish in the other and see which fill up first...

if u have 2 pc's u can get a crack for civ so one copy can see lobby and other copy plays the game - 2 logins
now if firaxis made it so u could see lobby without a CD in, people wouldnt have to go looking for a nocd crack

You only need the CD to start the game afterwards you can use same disk to start game elsewhere.

From what I know, you need to have Conquests installed to access the C3C lobby from Arcade, isn't it ? ;D
Btw, hope Firaxis will allow access to lobby from voting screen soon. I'm sure it's not difficult since everything is already done, just have to take time to adapt it to voting screen.

Why can't Firaxis ninja copy c4f, then it wouldn't be 3rd party software

It isn't Firaxis ... its GameSpy that is making this the issue.
This should come as no surprise to anyone if you read the terms of service and license agreement for GameSpy. It was just a question of time before GameSpy detected the source of illegal access to their servers.
I would hazard a guess that C4F authors will be defending their position in court in the near future and anyone who is using the illegal access will be marked and prohibited from connecting to GameSpy servers.
It's my understanding, that there is some sort of dispute between GS and Sid so that's why there isn't a separate chat room in GS Arcade.
There is already another chat room set up for CIV4 using IRC that DTA created.

Good thing GS doesn't know that Eyes of Night developed the C4F software

You mean Sid Meiers actually exists I thought he was a name dreamt up to get tax breaks. Or maybe that he was a canary like the head of Burns's plant in the Simpsons? Or maybe he's a mixture of several people. Just send GS some flowers and say sorry, say that it was all a misunderstanding, and that it was your fault you acted badly(hell you don't have to mean it, just say it ) C'mon take one for the team Sid ;D
