that depends on who the host is i guess The only thing the host does is set up the game options. Everything else is run through peer-to-peer networking. There's really no such thing as a "good host" and a "bad host" except for how they set up their games and whether or not they've got their router and firewall configured properly.

You don't have to build culture if you spread your religion. Is that so? True. But instantly spreading religion to a city can be a bit of a bind. This culture is totally free from the off. in 3 t u have ur fat cross.

The game seems to be a regression in some areas. I experienced what I call "graphics lag" in a 5 v 5 teamer when I was front player. From the start of the game it was as if I was playing high graphics with full animations. I move a unit I could see a blur of the units moving from one spot to the next. I could see enemy units move the same way. Units would activate, but it would take a few seconds to center on the unit. I had trouble click actiavting units as graphics were so choppy my cursor would be in a different spot when the game acknowledged the click. Regular C4 was like this, until the 2nd or 3rd patch toned down the graphics significantly. As it now I can only play teamer with 8 or less players and can never be on the front in an inland sea map teamer (high unit concentrations make the graphics lag worse).

Hmm im getting really good connection rates, like 90% of the time, which is a big plus!
But there are some loose ends that must be addressed in the next patch, computer moving the tiles your working and making it starve is annoying
As for balance i really havnt played it enough to make a comment, but it does seem ancient is majorly geared towards score wh0ring. Although making it 1 city elim might help the situation.
I said before, single strengh values give the game less fexibility, it really is tic-tac-toe, but thats a CIV4 thing and not warlords, dont wanna side track!

connection improved, but its like thing is slowed down, 75% off games played any +250 ping makes timer slow. And i get the same as swissy, 8-10 sec. lack on getting the unit active, a very bad thing if you try to firstmove with the no unit circle on, and the unit is dead before your turn even is started.
I run a 512mb radeon grafic, scould be more than enough.

From what I've seen everybody has left vanilla civ and went to warlords. Except the noobs. I'm sure people could play vanilla cton's and get their win% up about 50 points.

I must say that despite the bugs, I am rnjoying Warlords even more so than the original. I love the Unique Buildings, even thou it sucks that you dont walway get to use em, because of the long timeline that doesn't get covered in an average MP game. The new generals are by far the best addition to the game! Simply brilliant! I was never a big GP person but a GG is necessary and it's not somethign you have to go out of your way to get. I simply do what I love the most, fight, and they just pop out of no where ;D Lastly, addition of more civs was very good. They are all very useful. Thou I would love there to be an axeman UU I guess devs feel that would be unbalanced (rightly so). As far as there being no effective anti Cossak unit, yes that can prove frustrating. Especialy to people fond of Ren games. Unfortunately there is no easy way to solve it as any Cossak nerf would also have to nerf Cavalary, and as we all know Cavalary is supposed to last till tanks. Once people would get to Rifleman, no one would use Cavalary at all. And that would be rather sad

Luckily there are some dedicated ren players that are helping make ren more balanced in a mod for warlords. Not sure if I'm supposed to say but it should be posted on the forums this weekend. It will solve a lot of the balance issues including cossacks.

I'm really lovin' this game... except that now the addiction factor has gone up 10 times. What troubles me, though, is the crappy lag issue. I thot it was just me - can't seem to get my units out of a trouble spot at the beginning of a turn, if I had them hi-lited at end of previous turn then I'm screwed with a 5 sec+ lag. Found a little more luck by just hovering cursor over unit and not selecting at all until new turn starts. Love the concept of the anon players, yet reporting is a nightmare. If all players had head screwed on straight, then no problem - record all names in lobby, if civ is destroyed mid game you see the player name, if players make it to end, stay in game and declare who you are. But this method isn't clear to everyone. Would like to see revelation of actual player names given if you're killed, quit and at end of game. Would make it alot simpler since in-game communication isn't always easy with the international language nature of the CIV community.

Well the lag issue has been reported to Firaxis, as to the language barrier, I'd ask for a ingame translator...but I don't want to get laughed off the Firaxis forums CS
