Okay, this thread is not meant to cause offense to anyone, but haven't you noticed the increased civilization 4 multiplayer population after christmas? Alot of people probably recieved it as a gift for the holidays. There seems to be 25% more people there now compared with before. I just wanted to ask a quick question: can the increased number of players in multiplayer be responisble for the "connecting to peer" problem that started around christmas day? Does the number of players affect how well a server runs?

Yep, that's part of the connection problem - a big part. I'm happy to see those new faces, though. Educate them.

I've only been saying that in the lobby like a million times. hehe The server seems to be having problems with the bulk of new players and the bulk of games in general, thus the connection to peer issues. Look at the total number of games on any given day, not just ladder and you can see why this is happening. Fortunatley christmas/new year is over(sorry that came out wrong but you know what I mean) so we should have less of a problem. I assume this is still going to be a problem at weekends, until the server is upgraded, something GS shouldn't of had to do. I mean it's only the most popular gaming series like ever, in the known universe, what did they expect

And to teach a young dog new tricks, you've got to acknowledge that they feel immortal, compared to you
