I prefer irish/english stouts myself, followed by good local microbrewery stuff.

Bud is for the bikers ;D
Microbrewers offer a much better product for those who appreciate the fine art of brewing as compared to those who just want to get blasted on the horse urine coming out of St. Louis.

Which Is why Germany wins hands down for Beer/lager production. A brewery in every town, the finest lagers in the world. They may not have invented it but they damn sure know how to make it Staropromen and Budvar are very nice; those "Checks" also make some good Lagers, well they did invent it I supose. Budwieser is beer for the masses(it also tastes like water even if it is about 5% over here, I like to call it budwater) Real ales are ok, in this country there are a bewildering aray of them, unfortunately real ale drinkers tend to be slightly eccentric so it's kind of like a cult group. But if wearing a cardigan and having an enormous beard is a sin then it's a sin I can live with, even if I don't drink Rats piss or old degenerate or Lumphammer or tanglefoot. We have a brewer near us that makes a rather nice bitter called HSB, not a big bitter fan but that's not bad. Stout personally I think it tastes a bit funny but then I'm a lager man myself. What's the difference between american beer and making love in a canoe, nothing there both f***ing close to water ;D There are some nice American beers(usually export stuff) but to get anything remotely close to tasting good you need to go above the magical 5% level IMO. Aughhhhhhhlllgghg, cheese cake. ?Cheese cake and beer is there anything finer?

The only thing worse than warm beer is no beer.

I like German beer but unfortunately pilsners are much to popular in central/northern Germany the last time I visited, it was hard to find a good wheat beer.
