While I generally agree with Admin decisions about 90% of the time, I don't think this poll/discussion should have been deleted. While the admin's have the responsibility of maintaining decorum on these boards, I think the readers/contributors of this forum should have a voice regarding who should be welcome here.
There are a very few who post here who add little to no value to the topics under discussion. I see nothing wrong with the concept of the "community" expressing an opinion regarding their distaste in hearing from them.

Expressing disapproval of members of the community - i.e. a complaint about a member - is done privately, to the administrators. "Court of public opinion" - especially done in a manner where the poster is deliberately, publicly flouting rules and attempting to stir up grudges - is not acceptable.
Horizon knew he was breaking a rule, declared it as such, and then proceeded to do so. That will earn the same response anytime, towards any player.

I agree with FriedrichPsitalon on this issue. The person who opened this thread was just out to incite trouble.

I concur. We will not sensor opinions on the way we run the boards. This being said we will always remove or try to remove personal attacks, subjects posted to cause harm to the community or its good standing members and even things which may not be so "politically correct". This approach does not please all however we feel it is the best way to build our community on solid values along with allowing expression of individuals. We are not here to suppress....I remember being a kid and having to be on good behavior when the neighbor was outside. I knew if I did something wrong in front of him, he would go directly to my parents. Well this is the role we try to fill here. Not the parent but the community watch-dogs if you will.

This forum is totally boring and lifeless. The admins delete everything that doesn't fit their idea of what a perfect, pristine "family oriented" forum should be. The result is a stilted, sanitized forum with very little that is humorous or inventive. Personal attacks are one thing, but I think these admins have gone plumb loco with a delete-happy little power trip going on.

We are all one big happy family of some sort here. It's good to air out all the dirty laundry and have one big catharsis.
I say as long as there are no curse words or those semi-curse words with the goofy symbols in them but we can figure what they are, anything goes. Also blatant name calling should not be used but if someone has a case to make against another payer, why not post it. What's wrong with being a self policing organism of public opinion. The internet a rough and tough place of raw honesty and unbridled emotion and thats the way I like it personally. People get used to it.
Not to mention I enjoy reading all the drama. It's better than a Jerry spinger show sometimes. If we could just get some of the lady CIV players to flash some titties. There is a place to send in your pictures. Don't be shy girls.

Well this is not an internet FFA, if you want that try yahoo chat, want Jerry Springer look it up in your local TV listings. We are not trying to make this the Mr Rogers show, feel free to post contraversial Civ related threads, but personal attacks will never be allowed. If your looking for drama in a soap opera stay home for an afternoon and watch TV CS

There should be a rant board on here where people can like talk nuts about mothers and threaten to eat peoples children and nuts, would probably be very effective and help with this problem.

Problem is we have some 13 year old players on the ladder. And we has parents would rather not they be exposed to such things. Yeah, yeah we don't have our heads in the sand and realize they are already exposed to it everywhere on the internet but like grandma used to say "If others jump off a bridge are you going to also?"

There is it's called the moan thread in off topic, notice the bitter twisted wretches who post on it ;D ;D I agree with Whiplash in principal but that thread sounds a little beyond the plae, you don't have to be direspectful or nasty to make a point. I should know I've been told off for it enough times. I for example am having deep legal and theological differences at the moment with Whiplash but I haven't resorted to name calling or slagging him off. And neither has he in return, we may not agree but we don't need to run each other down to make our cases.

Dissent was always censored on the civ3 forum and this forum is likely to follow the same precedent. I do agree that a "most annoying" post is innappropriate and should have been edited but I don't bother to post most of my opinions because I already know they will be removed. The next 50 lines of Levi's post have been removed. ;D

Didn't I spend half of last week editing posts in order to protect your rights as a member of this community?

Yes, you did, and I thank you for it. Unfortunately that is not what I am talking about. I was talking about censorship of dissenting opinions. Apparently you confused that with censorship of personal attacks. Earlier in this thread StrictlyRockers said: This forum is totally boring and lifeless. The result is a stilted, sanitized forum with very little that is humorous or inventive. Well I dare say most of us on the admin team don't interfere with opinions which disagree with our purpose. We may at times remove somethings if we feel they are bad for the "harmony" of the community but by all means call us board Nazis of you wish. No sweat of my back, I don't mind some disagreeing with me as I know no matter what I will never please 100% of the peeps.

I am 15, and the threads/posts I have contributed can be considered more obscene than 95% of yours. Making the forum family friendly is stupid when those the rules are trying to protect are the ones breaking them.

"Making the streets safe for children is stupid, when many of the crimes being committed are being committed by children." Sounds just as ludicrous that way, too.

And to clarify, the vast majority of what's been pulled hasn't been anything that's inappropriate in a "maturity" sense.
It's been pointless attacks, sniping quibbles, the kind of stuff you expect between 9 year olds. People screaming and saying "I don't like you because you were mean to me."
That kind of stuff we can skip reading - it doesn't contribute to the forum; it only makes us look foolish and unprofessional.
I can count the number of "Adult content" posts I've pulled on one hand. Apolyton, CFC, and all the others are no different - you want to pick a fight with someone, you don't do it on the main boards, period.
The admins agreed and stated on day one that C4P would put on a much more professional appearence than C3P. That's not going to change.
