Naw, we will have an electiondown the road is all. All minority governement have to deal with these kinds of issues. We have kinda a 2 politicial group system here(there a a few regional parties too out west and in Quebec). I'm not worried, we are revamping our health care system as we have an aging population. In 15 years over 50% of our natinal budget shall be spend on health care. But thats fine, we have high end technical jobs, a good level of education, sustainable resources, and will continue to prosper in the future
there has always been crooked politicians, we are just exposing a few

Will be the same Lib minority gov't just with tens of millions of dollars wasted on this damn neg. campaign.
I heard on CFRB 640 AM in which the host asked all callers - regardless of party affiliation - to call in and state whether they would vote for the Conservatives if Harper was NOT the leader.
I'll paraphrase one guy's answer which is sufficient:
" I've been and voted for Liberal for the past 50 years. If the Con's would have any other leader in this election besides Harper, I would vote Conservative to change gov't. But Harper is too shady. Therefore, I'm still gonna vote Liberal."
naw I forgo another minority government. With the west and Quebec with their own parties ::sigh:: we better get used to minortiy governments cause it may happen alot now.

Quebec will probably be mostly Bloc. Reducing Liberal Seats.
NDP and Liberals will split the left vote in ontario thus allowing the Conservatives who only lost most of our seats in Ontario by very small margins, to win outright this time.
If we take 10-20 more seats in Ontario we'll have a Conservative Minority.
If we win the tight races in B.C. aswell though, we'll have a majority.
And then we can get back to fixing our country.
There was a time when our armed forces were the most respected in the world. Now what are they now? a well trained force with outdated tech? The liberals have squandered our resources and enriched themselves for too long I say!
We'll Fix our Armed forces, get them the equipment they need to do their job! We'll Fix our Economy and end poverty and homelessness which is becoming prevalent in the liberal Canada. We'll End Gay Marriage We'll Bring back Morals into this country Stomp out Crime. End the Americanization of our streets prevalent with guns. We'll Crack down on the sicko freak, Rapists, Pedophiles and all the other degenerates that are getting slaps on the wrists. Bring back the death penalty for these degenerates I say!
Together we shall make our country great again. Crack down on immigration so we can manage the influx of man-power to job ratios. Lower Corporate Taxes to encourage job growth. Wages will rise, taxes will flourish with less tax ratios per capita. With more jobs means no more welfare state. Welfare rolls will be reduced in turn. Freeing up more money for the federal government. Which in turn can be spent to create better schools for our children and better hospitals for our sick. Decrease Waiting times and all around upgrades to enhance our quality of care.
ouch. Don't forget wihtout immigration we could not even sustain our population. We ahve an agin population here in Canada and it is expected that over 50% of buget will soon go to health care. Our armies...mmm...we did invent the peace corps which was awesome. We however have better things to spend our money on Gay marriages, I know how you feel on this issue, but get used to it. It will not go away. Canada has always been a leader in North American on setting personal rights. We obviously cannot give people a right and then turn around and take it away Cracking down on sickos.....I'm all for it. The gun issue is not a big one in my part of the country but I have not been to Toronto in a long time so maybe things did get worse. Spending/wasting the money we did on a failed gun registry was a no-no. How many billion was that? Money probably could have payed off ever student loan in Canada.
Not being from the West, I have no place in my heart for the conservatives or Western parties. These have "lots" provinces would love nothing more then to ignore the needs of the have "not" provinces here in the east. No jobs here so the children get an education and move out west to find work. This has very much aged the popultaion in the maritimes.

Being from the West (British Columbia), I have to disagree with you about the sentiment that westerners do not care about easterners, I would venture to say that more westerners care about Canada as a whole and easterners specifically because we have known for the past 120yrs what it is like to be ignored by eastern Canada, even though we are the have "lots" provinces... we are the have "nots" provinces in terms of:
money - all the money goes to Quebec, as proven in the Gomery report... money that is seen and unseen, if not to Quebec, then, as Jean Chretien proved... to other Liberal leader ridings to solicite support and finances for beautiful campaigns.
attention - Jean Chretien visited western canada a total of oh, maybe 3 times in his 7 years as Prime Minister, Paul Martin has done a bit better job, but that's only because he's aware that he's going to lose his job because of the Liberal Dis-enfranchised romance with the west.
credibility - the voice of the west has predominantly been the oppositon party to the east... that may now change, but because of the change many things may also change... especially the morality of our country as previously expressed by Lord_Phan... although, I don't necessarily agree with his comments, they are a bit unrealistic... , but I do believe that the Conservative party will put moral issues to a referendum (as the U.S. did in the last election) instead of pushing it through when the majority of the government is Liberal and the new government would be a minority... we've had many sad days in Canada in the past 12 years as law has been made without the peoples voice heard. - any Liberal who voted against a Liberal party platform was backbenched and never heard from again...
Government can never truly fix the ailments of a society, all it can do is try to govern and inspire it's citizens to fix the ailments of their individual socities, thus creating a culture which is inspired, creative, expressive, concerned about others and full of life!
These comments probably won't buy you a cup of coffee, but if your in Prince George BC... look me up and I will
I would love to see the "other coast". I'm in rural Nova Scotia so never seen a "real" mountain. ;D
I do however like our canadian stance on moral issues. This is a place of opportunity. Statistics have soon that the people coming into Canada tend so waste less tax dollars on things such as unemployment, welfare.
As for the "gay" marriage thing. I have a lovely wife, we have a happy life and could care less what other people do. The government has no place in the bedrooms of its citizens. This is not Texas

Politicains and corruption, of course I bet conservatives have never been involved in corruption, not much of a shock there
Sorry I don't normally bother much with politics but this part did interest me:-
"For the Liberals, they are going to try to put all the focus on the economy, which is doing phenomenally well."
Unemployment in Canada is at a 30-year low and Canada runs a budget surplus.
your right Sounds like Canada is doing terribly?
Ultra right wing conservatism that Phan advocates works no better than ultra left wing liberalism, you can take that to the bank. Needs to be a balance between the two, a fine line between oportunity for all and economics.
But then I don't claim to know anything about Canadian politics. I'm sure someone will tell me why in a democracy a minority view is a good idea be it left or right?
He's right though homosexuality is like a disease if you get too close it'll spread to you; your kids if they even come into contact with them will be slowly turned to the dark side. Really don't care what a section of society does in the privacy of their own homes, has no impact on my life whatsoever. I honestly wonder why you care?
Immigration and the death penalty, hmm... a black uniform and a pair of jack boots and I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference, the rhetorical style is not too dissimilar either
A mildly interesting thread about politics well who'd of thunk?

In reference to Phan's post.
I think I know him well enough to respond. I don't think Phan cares either about what people do in privacy. I think the objection comes when that life-style is promoted as being "normal" and an acceptable part of the culture.

I see, my apologies. Still don't know why you care, but hey that's your lookout. I don't think someone is going to wake up some morning and say, hmmm... I've tried being straight and don't get me wrong it was great, but since it became OK to be gay it's time for a change. Bigger deals to worry about IMO.

It is not promoted in society. I don't think there is a society out there, or a parent out there that wishes their children to be gay. Shattered dreams of grand-parenthood etc....
What we did do is legalize the marriages because couples were living together for years and years only to have the estates "taken" away from the widows/widowers by family members. The rights of the union was not protected by civil law. With the passing of the law, couples can file joint taxes and such things like any other couple.
BTW 2 men who love each other makes 2 available women ;D

See now I wanted to make that joke, something along the lines of: more rampant totty for us real men or some such, but I steeled myself from going there. Thanks to Avo though that joke got in there anyway. If nothing else it proves that some jokes are just universal ;D
See women loving women doesn't bother me either, but probably for all the wrong reasons ;D
I apologise for derailing the political discussion.
Legal age of consent is 14 if the other party involved is less then 19. So 18 year old boy with 15 year old girl...np 48 year old man with 15 year old girl...ohoh
Selling sex legal? Prostitution is not legal. Some smarter women have newspaper adds for "Accompaniment" or "massages" and such...nothing wrong with that if its safe imho. Can a women stand on street corner and solicitate? The answer is no.
Cat food in the winter? WTF we got all the seals we could ever eat up here. We club the cubs with big sticks and throw them in the stew-pots.
