The weekend after release, we will be holding a major tournament for all comers. Will you be there? Will you be ready?
Can you be the first tourney champion of Civilization 4?
Stay tuned.

Sounds exciting. I sure hope you don't participate, that way we all have a shot at winning ;D

I will be running the tournament, not playing. That would be a tad unfair. I might offer a game to the winner, though.

This will be 'playtesters & designers' 1st tourney champion of civ 4,correct? Maybe you oughta hold it the weekend before release & hold the real 1st tourney a month or two after release, you know,to kinda level the playing field??(which would still be like warriors attacking tanks up a hill)

I'm kind of hoping most of the playtesters will politely decline to play. They would be encouraged to do so. Maybe I'll run a second tourney for them if enough show.

Yes let's run two divisions. One for those with prior experience with the game (Beta testers) and one for those who first played the game on release day (or soon thereafter).
SPM
PS: Btw, there was a lot of talk before CIV3 Conquests came out that it would take months to catch up with the beta testers, and it was more like days.

Well I wasn't planning on playing for the reason's Fried stated, but if we have a testers divison I'll gladly talk on some Firaxians for the tittle ;D Some of the newer testers may still qualifiy as n00bs..cough: Sparta :cough:
It may take a bit longer for CIV as it's not an expanison like C3C but a whole new game with different mechanics involved, however, I bet the addicts will still have the basics down in a couple weeks and some people will have the details learned in a month.

um.... I want in the Testers Division then. I plan on proving Game Theory and superior tactical strategy beats out your Months of Experience.
