I was in a cton game today and was some confusion over who won on points. It was a very close game and it came down to the last turn. I was about 10-12 behind the leader.
On the last turn (turn 0) I made sure as many of my cities went up in pop for a few extra points. When the next turn came up I was now 2 points ahead but the game said the previous leader had won.
In the Civ3 we always waited for the screen after the last turn to see who had won and I can only think it must be the same for Civ4 otherwise there is no point in playing the last turn.
Anyone else had a similar thing happen and who wins?

the one who wins is the winner declared by final pop up. At least I beleive I have read this here somewhere.

Weird, if we believe this popup, we'll sometimes have a winner that is second according to the final score... since the popup gives victory to the player leading in turn 0... but this same player can be 2nd at the end of the turn/game.

There are no player scores at the end of turn 0, just the pop-up of the winner.
To see the final player scores, you need to read the final winner pop-up, go through the "loss and histograph" pages which brings you back to the game with the question "End now" or "I'd like to play a few more turns."
At this point, you can see final scores.
Playing/showing "TURNS" 135 thru 0 maybe isn't such a good premise (at least showing it), even though playing/showing "TURNS" 1-135 is the same thing.
Although it may be "refreshing" to see "how many turns left" in a game (the opposite of C-C4), how many "turns played" (what turn you're on) is much easier.
Well, except for the simple math part, lol.
That, or fix it so that when the winner is "popped-up" you can also see everyone's score.

I didn't have to check the any histographs or the like when seeing the scores. They were in the same place they usually are with me now at the top but 2nd place declared the winner.
Can we have a official decision on this please or can someone refer me to the rules where it is covered if I have missed it.

and 2nd place? and 3rd place? and 4th place? (et.al)
For reporting purposes (for all but a 1v1 or when just two people remain in the game) - this would be good information to know.

Ok, sad to say, there is an intermittent bug. On turn 0, the last turn, if the 2nd place person overtakes the 1st, the wrong winner is posted. If you note there is a final scorecard in the bottom right corner of the screen WHEN the GameOver/"x" Won pop-up occurs. That is the official scorecard - it is the score at the end of turn 0 ("the last turn"). Take a screen shot if there is a dispute.
Hopefully, this will be fixed in the next patch. And yes, this same score appears after the whole end display when/if you click on "Wait ... one more turn". You'll see the score at the end of turn 0 - and at the beginning of the N+1 turn.
Sorry - I don't write the code. But we doublechecked and the lower right hand display at GAME OVER popup is the correct score. This is what you should use for reporting in the right order.
Best, SPM

good answer!
(but I don't get that score-card in the lower right corner - but as long as "shuffling-through" back to the "wait/one more turn" screen does show the correct score it's great)
I must say that I DO ENJOY this "ending" feature and ability very much - allows everyone to chat for a few minutes after a game!

Talked with Stin about this result...
My screen showed a DeviousDevil wins and time victory thing, yet his score in the turn after where we all have a chat and a cup of tea had Stin's score higher.
We've decided to call it a draw between us, hell we got plenty of reports (or will as soon as everyone reports etc) from the rest of the punters.
Is it a bug?

Yes and Stin's score is the winner. Pop up score is from beginning of turn 0 not the end....it wil be fixed next patch. In the meantime if someone comes accross this again please keep the save and send it to me at michel_desormeau@hotmail.com so that i may forward it to the developers thanks
