Well, I guess people COULD call it a "delay" but truly, all who've pre-ordered the game (including myself) have been given "ESTIMATE" ship dates (and "estimate" shipping times/arrival dates).
We're relying on the "point-of-sale" vendor (where we pre-ordered).... who's relying on their distribution center.... who's relying on at least ONE MORE distribution center.... before we actually even consider the actual date that the game product leaves the game manufacturing facility.
After all that, and considering the "same-day" or "next-day" shipping we've paid seperate for, I'll be HAPPILY surprised if I get it by the end of the week.
Speaking of which.....

At 2:30 this afternoon (about the time of the mailman, ups-guy, and fedex-guy), I hear a knock on my door.
Startled, I RUSH to the door and SHO'NUFF it's the UPS GUY (what can brown do for you?)
IN HIS HANDS IS A PACKAGE!!!
My hands shake as I sign for it, I hurriedly say thank you, close the door in his face, turn on all the proper room lighting and set the package on my computer desk!
I go to the kitchen, get a knife, and cut the sealing tape around the edges....
(omg this is gonna' be great!)
as I open the box, of course, there is the usual bubble-wrap and I carefully set it aside.
I see a box with writing inside the box....
I take it out and gasp............
CRAP, it's from the Veteran's Administration and they've arbitrarily sent me nicotine-patches, a video, and a cassette tape with a letter suggesting that I quit smoking.
I lit one IMMEDIATELY!
wOwzaaaaaaaaaa, expecting me to quit smoking after THAT!!!!

If you pre-order from EBGames they will send you an e-mail the day before they expect to have it and give you a phone call the minute it arrives. I got the e-mail yesterday and the phone call 1/2 hour ago, so I'm gunna pick it up on the way home from work. Nice to see that some people really do what they say they will do.

Well I'm CERTAINLY glad that all of you who live in the "BEEEEG CITY" can do that, lol.
With no "BEEEEG CITY" retail outlets within two hours of me, I had to order mine from amazon.com
Just got off the phone with them and they have not yet received their order from whoever they get it from so they don't yet have it to ship out.
The rep on the phone was kind enough to remove the "next-day air" shipping charges from the order, send me a $10.00 amazon gift certificate and ensure that my order will still ship via next-day air when it does ship.
Their unofficial estimate as to when THEY receive the game in their warehouses? 29 October (followed by the usual shipping times).
I would have gladly pre-ordered from a retail outlet in Dallas and driven there to pick up the game, lol.
OOOOOOOO the non-stop thrills, fun, AND EXCITEMENT of living in a land where the only culture is bacterial in nature...

Seems like several people are having trouble installing the game.
And what in the world am I hearing about; no CD key and somebody claiming to have already downloaded the game??

Got home and immediately loaded the game. Wasn't brave enough to just jump in so I tried the tutorial.
My first impression is although this is Civilization it is a "new" game.
It will take me some time to get used to it and to find out how I can use the mouse instead of the keyboard.
Jury is out but it has high expectations. :-)
Good luck all.

Kust got an email from amazon saying my order shipped this evening, which is contrary to what they told me on the phone this afternoon, lol.
Will I get it tomorrow (supposed to)?
Will I get it Friday (not supposed to).
I just hope all these darn VA boxes STOP coming as I get teased by the UPS and FEDEX people, lol.

I pre-ordered 44.99 from amazon while ago, put didnt ship on 25th and i got antsy. Wal-mart said they would so switched 2 days ago. Then next day people said amazon were shipping. Crap!
Today I called local mall store and they had recieved 50 yesterday. I went and got their last one today (weird for a moderately small town in IA!) after verified cancel from wal-mart online and cancelling next day shipping.
Now I just go to get the game to run with my radeon 9550 which so far is a no go.
Took me 10 minutes just to figure out which cd was the play cd to keep in cd-drive cause its backwards titled. :-)
I am even going to miss going to the bar (maybe) afterwork to get this thing going later.
Ah the drama!
